I'm on the line with Samsung right now and they're walking me through a backup and reset.

But if this doesn't fix it then a new Sim card is in my future.

bigzz786786 11-01-2016 12:05 PM

^i have that issue too, my s7edge is at samsung repair depot for 2 weeks now, this is the 3rd time i have sent it in. First time with rogers and seemed fine for a while then started happening again. Went to samsung the second time since i was told they would be faster, they replaced the antenna and did some ajdustments and it started happening every day. Got pissed off and sent it back in again. Now awaiting either a final fix from them or a replacement device. The fact that all calls and texts both outgoing and incomming do not work until you reset the phone is a big pain in the ass.

Two fake S7's here for the last week and so far they're still good. Haha

My phone would crash and not turn on (led flashing). I would have to force re-start it (holding power key and volume keys)... happened twice now.

I am having the same issue...started last week. Phone crashes randomly and then repeats for 4-10 times before it finally works. I have tried unmounting the SD card, deleting apps that I recently updated/installed, updated the OS, deleted Oculus (I read online that is a problem for a lot of people) and disabled a bunch a different apps.

However I still have the same issue. I am thinking that it is a hardware issue and I will have to take it in to be looked at

bigzz786786 11-08-2016 03:01 PM

Just an update. Got my s7edge back from the repair depot and 2 days later it started happening again. Lost network connection, this time it kept happening all morning no matter if i restarted or turned off my phone. Took it straight back to samsung while it was having the issue and now they took the phone back and are processing a replacement for me. Currently on a loaner phone by them again. Such bullshit.

Looks like maybe a music track listing on Always On Display?

Are you asking what that line is or just the funky characters/icons come from?

N.V.M. 11-12-2016 09:10 AM

Both! I changed it and now i can read it. Can't seem to find where to get rid of it. Is it a feed from a Samsung app?

syee 11-12-2016 09:15 AM

It comes from any app that plays music (so Android's native music player, Samsung Music and even Spotify). It was part of the most recent AOD update.

The characters for the title name? Not too sure. Probably some fancy font that has those characters.

Got my Samsung S7 througha sweet deal from Fido. Now I need tempered glass! The ones I saw in most store in Van doesn't cover the the whole screen. Any suggestions?

boibuddha 11-13-2016 02:54 PM

That would depend on if you will be rocking an OtterBox type of case for the phone.

If yes, the case will end up peeling the edge of the full-screen tempered glass. I even let the screen protector sit on the phone for 48 hours so the adhesive could cure, but it still ended up peeling after I tucked the phone into the case.

Avoid the Sukix, Sukix Galaxy S7 Screen Protector Tempered Glass Full Screen Protector Film for Samsung Galaxy S7 by Sukix http://www.amazon.ca/dp/B01KPROSHI/r..._DYpkyb6NM01C0
Only has adhesive on the black portion of the glass, creates a pocket of air between the phone and drastically reduced touch sensitivity

I honestly wouldn't bother with a tempered glass screen proctor for the S7. Gorilla glass 4 is pretty damn good and does not scratch easily.

Well Samsung seems doomed right now. With the Note issues and now a reported S7 exploding and the wash/dryer fiasco would you buy another product from them?

originalhypa 11-17-2016 09:27 AM

I just got my replacement S7 edge and it's working well again.
Samsung makes a great product, but they're going through some real issues right now. It reminds me of Toyota back in 2011 when the recall fiasco had their stock price tumbling.

They'll pull out of it.

bigzz786786 11-18-2016 01:22 PM

^was your replacement brand new or refurbished?

agreed. i work in the landscape/construction industry and my hands are always dirty, and my pockets always end up dirty. ive had my s7e since launch and the screen is essentially perfect still and i have to clean dirt/dust off my phone almost every day.

N.V.M. 11-19-2016 12:53 PM

My Edge has locked up twice in the last week. Only a 3 button reset restores it. Fuck.

Mr.HappySilp 11-22-2016 11:35 AM

Anyone having issue with sending text messages. It seems randomly it will send 2 of the same text out but on my side I only see it being sent once. Also started happening just today where when I try to send the text message it won't send out. When I resend it, the message got sent out twice.

Really strange.

Porsche957 11-22-2016 11:48 AM

I've got two main issues with my s7 edge

1. I lose total mobile/data network, forcing me to reboot the phone to be connected to signal again. (I replaced Sim and did a hard reboot - no luck, I still get this problem intermittently)

2. When dialing out, the dial tone (ring..ring...) will go very quiet.
during a conversation, if the other person speaks loudly, the sound will get instantly quiet/muffled.

anyone with issues or resolutions?

They gave me a refurb.
Going on a couple weeks with no issues on round 2.

That said, the Moto Z is looking really cool with it's list of attachments. Maybe it's time to move on from Samsung onto something new?

SeemsGood

The Moto Mods make the phone seem kinda bulky when in use. Most of them are pretty useful (like the battery and speaker) so it justifies the bulk while some of them seem kinda useless (like the projector).

If you're looking at the Moto Z, then you probably already know this but they pioneered the exclusion of the headphone jack. Motorola/Lenovo are actually the ones with "courage" - not Apple! :P
