the S7 edge silver and gold won't be out until the end of March :okay:

do these newer phones require screen protectors anymore?

i dont think so. i stopped using them years ago, never had any major scractches. id rather deal with a few minor scratches and swirls than a less responsive screen.

im pretty sure those glass screen protectors scratch a lot easier than gorilla glass so you just end up with a scratched up screen protector to protect a screen that probably would have been fine anyways

Mr.HappySilp 03-10-2016 12:41 PM

^^ I use tempered glass screen protector on all my phones. It save my phone screen a couple times already. Usually when I drop my phone the tempered glass just cracked or shattered but the phone display is fine. Beside tempered glass is only like $3 on ebay.

MarkyMark 03-10-2016 01:38 PM

I can't stand screen protectors. Usually by the time I notice fine scratches on the screen I don't care about the phone being perfect anymore

SkunkWorks 03-11-2016 11:12 AM

Just picked mine up from Metro.

There goes my productivity today...

Arirang 03-11-2016 03:09 PM

Did they call you to pick it up or do you just go there mentioning you have a preorder?

ewong 03-11-2016 08:53 PM

I went to the Wind store by work to check out the S7 in silver. I was a bit underwhelmed with the Silver color on the front. It wasn't a very bright or sharp silver color compared to the side rim.

I'm hoping the color on the edge will be better or I might consider white or black

Szeto 03-12-2016 12:16 AM

Posting from my s7, I have the Samsung exyno cpu and Sony camera sensor. Would like the sd820 though... oh well

Pretty sure Canada ones are Exynos.

Szeto 03-12-2016 05:05 PM

^yeah, from what i gather it's only the US getting the SD820.. I still have not seen a lot of info on Exynos vs SD820 and supposedly SD820 manages heat better. Any idea if SD820 is much better than Exynos?

MarkyMark 03-12-2016 05:52 PM

I wouldn't worry too much about which version you get. It'll be a dick measuring contest between geeks who are more concerned about benchmarks than functional performance.

Not really a matter of performance, but development alone would have me buying a Snapdragon variant.

Shouldn't Exynos have better development? That's been the case in the past due to ROW using Exynos.

No. Snapdragon has a significantly larger development base and Exynos is a bitch to develop for as far as I know. That's why CM never bothered with the Note 5 or S6.

Ahh. Guess things have changed in recent years. I've only been flashing Nexus devices these past few years.
