Shinkaruk scored 27 goals in 62 games in the AHL last season as a 21-year-old. He led the Comets in goals despite being traded 2 months before the season ended.

Schroeder never came anywhere close to that in any AHL season, even last year as a 25-year-old (pace for 21 goals in 62 games). And he's still a fringe NHLer (25+ NHL games in each of the past 4 seasons).

I don't know Zibenajad too well with him playing in Ottawa. But he is 5 years younger than Brassard, and puts up similar point totals. Is he a defensive liability? The 2nd round pick should have probably gone the either way. Derick Brassard is a decent 2nd line center who will put up 50 to 60 points, but nothing more.

Brassard's contract is palpatable at $5M cap hit but the age factor is huge and if Zib breaks out in NYR and hits the 70-80+ point range...his raise would've been worth it

Good trade for NYR, they need to get younger and badly need picks. Brassard was good for NYR and will be missed, especially in the playoffs (59GP 18G 26A +13)

I think it's a downgrade for NYR as far as the player but Zibanejad has potential. Zibanejad had similar numbers as Brassard last year, if Zibanejad could become more consistent (work ethic) he could be a good player.

Now which washed up vet will NYR trade that 2nd for at the deadline? :lol

Today Kessel brought the Cup to Toronto without any planned appearances announced. A small portion of Steve Simmonds-like fans shit on him for not making a public appearance with fans, others shit him for wishing to rub it in the faces of fans. Then pics are tweeted of him sharing the Cup with sick kids in the hospital, and those salty fans quickly changed their tune. Was a good day.

Except for learning that Lou gave away Bernier for pretty much nothing, but at least his cap is off the books. If the Ducks win the cup and Bernier plays half the games its a 2nd, if they lose the cup final and he plays half the games, it's a 3rd.

Kane arrested by Buffalo police - Article - TSN

Buffalo police say Sabres forward Evander Kane has been charged with four counts of non-criminal harassment and one count of misdemeanour trespass after an incident at a city bar last month.

Police say the 24-year-old Kane surrendered to authorities Friday and was issued a court appearance ticket. Investigators say two women accused Kane of grabbing them at a bar on June 24.

According to the reports, one woman told police Kane threatened her inside the club and when outside, grabbed her throat. The second woman accused Kane of trying to force her from the bar.

Kane's attorney, Paul Cambria, didn't immediately return a call seeking comment.

In March, prosecutors said there was no evidence to support a sexual assault charge against Kane stemming from a December incident.

Kane has two years remaining on his contract.

Kane's a clown. I can't believe some people want him anywhere near the Canucks.
