His poor results last season dragged down his value for this UFA. 1 year will do him good to prove his real potential and get market value the year after.

Guy was literally invisible in playoffs, and the better part of last season

He's not lying, he was consistently bad for the majority of the 15/16 season. :troll:

Vrbata mailed it in last year and he's paying for it now.

Berz out.

AzNightmare 08-17-2016 10:58 AM

Until last season when he was unhappy with his role and linemates, I don't see how he was not a legitimate "consistent" player through out most of his career.

I get it, people are upset he packed it in early last season and wasn't worth anything close to 5mil... but you're nuts to think he isn't worth more than a mil, especially with potential of a bounce back.

6o4__boi 08-17-2016 11:40 AM

Kenins off to Europe with ZSC Lions
Too bad, guy had a good start and disappeared. Was hoping he'd turn out to be a Hansen.

Random twitter rumour saying Edler was asked for two teams he'd waive his NTC and it's 2 Western teams...not sure if this is actually legit or just stirring the pot

Lol watch JB trade Edler and sign Russell :lawl:

I don't agree with factoring in potential into a contract when the guy is 35. He's past his prime, probably heading into the last couple seasons of his career in the NHL. Teams aren't willing to gamble too much on that age group. I wouldn't say hes worth much more than a mil, based on last season. Vrbata requires A LOT of the stars to align for him to do well (ie playing w/ Sedins).

punkwax 08-17-2016 04:41 PM

A competitor competes regardless of his linemates. Vrbata's shit attitude/poor play said a lot about his character. Even if he was sour that he was lured in by the opportunity to play with the Sedins, nothing in pro sports is an automatic and you need to earn your spot.

Kenins sort of got shafted last season. The guy made a solid debut in 14/15, and then couldn't get into the lineup last season. With how terrible the team was last year, they should have thrown him into a bottom 6 role on a consistent basis to see what he could do.

Nabatron 08-18-2016 09:26 AM

^the reason why he got "shafted" is because of his knee injury in the playoffs with the canucks didn't have good off season with training....also thought he was kind of entitled because he got a one way contract and thought he made the team already!

He made the team the previous season because he played that hard nosed energy style. He hit everyone that was in his way and did a damn good job about it until last season when he stopped.

XplicitLuder 08-18-2016 04:34 PM

kenins shafted himself. Srs

Flames re-sign their top centre Sean Monahan to a long term deal.
The term and amount of money look fair. :considered:

Sean Monahan signs huge seven-year deal with Flames - Sportsnet.ca

7 years, 44.725 million USD. Cap hit of 6.375 per season.

pastarocket 08-19-2016 12:21 PM

It comes down to two teams that would acquire Jimmy Vesey: Rangers or Blackhawks.

6o4__boi 08-19-2016 12:58 PM

my money's on the Hawks
sucks for the Preds...that NCAA loophole should really be looked at and fixed asap.

I find it so stupid that most players will have to wait til 26-28 to become UFAs and you've got fucking college players hitting UFA without suiting up once for the team that drafted em.

SumAznGuy 08-19-2016 01:07 PM

I agree. It's a shitty rule.
Justin Schultz is another example of a player that used that loophole.

be curious to see where johnny hockey lands in term and $$

6o4__boi 08-19-2016 02:02 PM

there should be RFA style compensations for teams that sign college FA's previously drafted in the NHL that didn't play a game for the team that drafted em.

Gaudreau will probably get similar money and term to Monahan.

Lol can you imagine if Boeser goes that route...bricks will be shat if he's unsigned before his senior year

Nabatron 08-19-2016 02:30 PM

vesey signed with rangers

Bouncing Bettys 08-19-2016 04:07 PM

What a prick! Vessey joins ISIS.

Tegra_Devil 08-19-2016 04:09 PM

i hope vessey turns into a plug......no loyalty
