I just realized that all the voices from the ice are played backwards... That's their method of censorship? WutFace

Not bad though, it took me a while to notice

pastarocket 08-04-2020 09:21 PM

-good to see Petey stand up for himself against that bum Hartman. :lawl:

Proper Canucks finish SeemsGood

BTW it's been a while, but do they not have the rule anymore where if a player is in the blue paint before the goal, it doesn't count? Because he was clearly in there first...

spoon.ek9 08-04-2020 09:34 PM

close as shit near the end but great response in a must win game for the canucks!

The NHL had the rule in the late-90s, but eliminated it after the controversial “foot in crease” goal when Dallas defeated Buffalo in the ‘99 Stanley Cup Final.

Last few PP looked good with good control in their zone. Although I'm thinking it's more cause the game was a bit out of reach so Minny wasn't pressuring as hard anymore on the PK like they normally would.

Didn't expect anything less, I had a feeling the game would be close regardless of the 4-1 lead. Not happy of all players, Fiala got 2. He made it look so easy too. He's confident he'll carry Minny on his shoulders for game 3 (which probably will happen).

Oh well, good win.

Right I remember the timing and that Brett Hull goal, but I didn't know they took away the rule completely, just tweaked it so it's less bullshit?

I think it's been tweaked a long time ago. I can't recall the last time a goal was disallowed because of just simply being in the paint without actually touching the goalie.

They went back to requiring physical contact to disallow the goal the following season (and, even then, it’s been inconsistent as to whether or not that is applied). I don’t recall when they implemented that rule in the first place; I want to say after the 94-95 lockout but that’s just a shot in the dark. Players hated it, goalies liked it. The NHL started to get into the dead puck era in the late-90s and this obviously attributed partially to the decrease in goal scoring (along with ever-increasing size of goaltender equipment and increasingly defensive-oriented team strategies), so I think that was part of the reason they got rid of it.

IIHF (Olympics, World Championships, World Juniors) automatically blows the play dead if an offensive player enters the crease, regardless of whether or not a goal is scored.

Good win for the team. Things to improve on for game 3:

Keeping players out of Markstrom’s crease. Our d-men need to clear the space so that Markstrom can see the puck.

Staying out of the penalty box. Myers took three straight penalties in game 2. Is the guy just slow with his feet when it comes to man to man coverage in his zone? I noticed him taking cross checking penalties.

I think Myers is being victimized basically for being too big...lol... that said he needs to realize it and change his approach

bobbinka 08-05-2020 07:57 AM

2 of the penalties were because he retaliated (Fiala elbow & crosscheck on Horvat, Greenway crosscheck on him) that initially went uncalled. 3rd crosscheck was a shove to the small of the back, which is extremely common and almost never gets called unless the player is going into the boards (in which case it's usually a boarding call).

The officiating has been absolutely brutal in the first 2 games of this series.

Dove so hard that he DDT'd himself into an injury.

Jmac 08-05-2020 12:06 PM

Even most Wild fans online are blaming Hartman for that injury :lawl:

Does anyone known if game 3 between the Canucks vs. Minny will be shown again at a later time on Thursday? 11:30am is early for a hockey game, even for people working from home. LUL

Gumby 08-05-2020 01:23 PM

Like Bure, love how feisty Pettersson is. That was the only thing missing from the Sedins’ game.
