NHL out to make it as confusing as possible.

murd0c 07-11-2020 10:09 AM

yes the Canucks draft pic is still lottery protected. If they lose in the first round it counts as not making the playoffs and they retain their first round pic.

With all the stupid shit the NHL changes every year, it’s baffling that they haven’t patched the NCAA loophole yet.

They’ll wait until the Canucks have no college players to lose/the Maple Leafs are about to lose one and then change it

Hondaracer 07-14-2020 07:43 PM

So what tine are the games on??..

That original image was saying two of the games were on at 330 however the NHL website and the Canucks website both have links saying the mid week games start at 745..

Yeah, most likely. As soon as one of the non-Montreal Original 6 teams loses a high profile player to this, it'll be fixed the following year.

It's an easy fix; make it like literally any other league. If the player is offered a bonafide contract and refuses to sign within the time limit (which would be by the end of their last college season for NCAA players), they re-enter the draft. If undrafted, they become unrestricted free agents. If they are re-drafted, they have a 2-year window to be signed before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

I just checked my score app and the Tuesday game is actually at 745pm now, I guess that has changed and I'm ok with that. I would prefer 330 tho, I actually have that week off from work.

Whats the likelihood of the NHL canceling the playoffs again, due to ongoing climb of covid19 cases in recent weeks?

spoon.ek9 07-15-2020 09:18 AM

they seem hellbent on getting this done no matter what happens. that's exactly why our BC government couldn't come to terms with them in case of an outbreak. We weren't willing to risk public safety in order to host the NHL. That should tell you all you need to know about how far the NHL is willing to go to get this done.

The Official 2019/2020 Canucks & NHL Thread

Boeser gives an update about training camp. It is a funny post on the Canucks IG. Who knew that Petey loves to watch “Gossip Girl” ? :lawl:

In all fairness to them, they seem to be the only big 4 NA sport that's actually done the most planning into making this as safe as possible. Just look at the stupid shit the NBA players are pulling.

The "bubble" they have going in Disneyworld is already under all sorts of fire with multiple players walking off campus for the dumbest shit like "picking up delivery" when there is full catering and room service... did they really want a Big Mac that desperately?

Tryamkin isn’t coming back this year.

I think he wanted a one-way contract.

I don't think we were in a position to give him that. IMHO, he would have started as a third pair and was no guarantee to not be a healthy scratch.

The NHL regards the Leafs as little more than a bank to prop up the league and the other Canadian teams are seen in a similar light.

How dare the Leafs improve the product on the ice. :rukidding:

murd0c 07-17-2020 03:29 PM

it's not like that has been doing them any good :joy:

Jmac 07-18-2020 01:13 AM

I could see the PA having an issue with that.

I’m not sure why the league (aka other 30 teams) would have a consensus issue with it. If teams want to invest in better coaching, scouting, player development, etc. to improve, I don’t have an issue with it.

The bigger issue I have with the Leafs are things like “Robidas Island,” which was just blatant cap circumvention using Toronto’s financial muscle. Obviously not really an issue these days as their LTIR guys (Horton, Clarkson) are legitimately injured, but there were a few years there where it was just utter BS and everyone knew it.

Read the same, how it potentially puts pressure on players to complete additional summer training.

Guessing its Sockeyes, given the colour schemes.
