what's awesome if you find stock at shoppers drug mart with a 20x points day

save quite a few points getting a discount on the ps5 or series X.

with my luck i walked inside one and there was two in gaming section :yuno:

GLOW 07-07-2022 07:42 AM

ya i gave up on shoppers, the only consoles shoppers near me have is series s and switch, no x or ps5

can still use 'em for accessories though

warzone d/l seemed to work now, almost 100gb sheesh lol

Hondaracer 07-07-2022 01:34 PM

Yea it gets some huge updates. Super fun tgough if you have friends to play with. Probably haven’t had this much fun with an FPS since CS

GLOW 07-07-2022 03:42 PM

looks like i'll have to dig up my activision login...

friends? .... :alone:

:okay:

Speaking of Xbox game pass, their Cloud gaming service is pretty amazing, I used it twice in the last week.

First was having friends with kids over, I booted up donut county instantly without downloading and install to keep the kids busy and distracted.

Secondly I was at the office waiting for personal dinner plans downtown, we have an Xbox at work and so I connected the controller to my MacBook and finished a level on Halo Infinite via the cloud via my browser before dinner.

It's insane the technology these days...

SkinnyPupp 07-07-2022 05:37 PM

Yeah it's pretty amazing with the right type of game.. I wo uldn't want to play a racing game or competitive multiplayer shooter, but for kids especially, it's amazing.

They have an app for new Samsung TV's now.. So basically you get access to the entire Microsoft library on your TV for $10 a month (or whatever it is in your country). No console needed, just a controller. Insane

GLOW 07-07-2022 07:07 PM

wow that sounds like stadia...but with a better library

SkinnyPupp 07-07-2022 07:18 PM

Yeah it's pretty much was Stadia should have been. "The Netflix of games". Instead they offered streaming but you still had to buy the games FailFish

Streaming isn't for everyone, but as internet speeds improve it will only get better

Hondaracer 07-11-2022 08:20 AM

The Xbox service seems far superior to the PS one

roastpuff 07-11-2022 08:24 AM

If anyone is looking for a Xbox Series X I have a BNIB console that I am not planning on using - decided to switch to PS... but too late to return ugh

Spider-Man Remastered on PC is such a mess... I was SO looking forward to it, I paid full price for it which I almost NEVER do, but I had to refund it because it's so broken

Also from the 2.6 hours I played, it's not that great anyway.. Basically Batman + Far Cry. That's fine for $30 or $40 but not $60

I do admit they threw so much shit at me that I forgot a lot of it... So many MOVES and combos to learn! Maybe I'm too old for a game like this LUL

mikemhg 08-14-2022 10:09 AM

^That's the problem with gaming in your 30's :lol

These games have gotten so goddamn complex. Too many combos to remember, in sports games too many moves to remember.

Feels bad man.

sonick 08-14-2022 11:33 AM

Exact same issue for me with the Guardians of the Galaxy game, where you're like managing four characters health at the same time AND have team combos with different characters strong at different things. Fuck that.

Thinking back it might be part of why I enjoyed Elden Ring so much. It's very difficult and complicated compared to Spider-Man, but once you learn the basic mechanics that's about it. You don't have to learn hold X and then hold Y and then press Y+B, press L3+R3, and so on. You have an attack, a block, and some other moves like dodge and tools.

Razor Ramon HG 08-14-2022 04:14 PM

Yeah, I'm getting old. I don't know how younger folks play Fortnite. It looks like a giant clusterfuck with all the building and crap.

SkinnyPupp 08-14-2022 04:27 PM

Yeah I tried that for a few minutes but the building was so weird

On the other hand I'm quite fucking good at Apex (imo) though I haven't touched that in months either... Starting to get the itch tbh

I find I do much better in shooters with bullet physics rather than hitscan.. Because hitscan favors people with faster timing, while bullets require more refined aim, which is something you can hold onto with age.

Final Fantasy 7 remake made me quit at the last series of bosses near end game.

Not because of difficulty, but because I was fucking tired of juggling 3 characters at once while casting spells and special moves, it felt constantly frantic.

Not fun in the slightest.

I hate Souls like games but I've watched a lot of Elden Ring on YT, think it's worth the dive?

I love my RPGs, but I need an engaging story, not the biggest fan of JRPGs for that very reason.

I hate Souls games too, but put over 200 hours into Elden Ring. ;)

Actually I recently answered this kind of question to a friend who was wondering the same thing, and he's been enjoying it ever since. I'll cut and paste what I told him, since he found it helpful:

Quote:

I have very strong opinions of this game.. I call it the best 6/10 game I've ever played and I have over 240 hours in it. There is a lot that is great about it, and a lot that is really bad, but more often than not, the great stuff will hook you in and you'll really enjoy it.

Even if you've hated other Souls games for various reasons, this one is by far more playable than any of those were, with a better (but still bad) interface and a lot (but not enough) of modern mechanics that make it more playable. Hit me up if you want to know more!
He then said his main worry is running into impassable walls like he did in Souls games. So I said:

Quote:

This is actually where the game excels, because it is so entirely open that if you run into any sort of wall, the best thing to do - and something highly encouraged by the game - is to just go somewhere else. Literally pick a direction and go. And there is so much that is accessible right away, that it's practically impossible to not have somewhere to go.

I spent my first day playing the game at the first enemy camp. In retrospect a hilariously tiny camp, but it was a huge wall for me, that for some reason I kept bashing my head into. Eventually I figured maybe I should just go somewhere else and get stronger, and the game sunk its hooks into me like you wouldn't believe. That early sense of exploration is this game at its best, and at these times it feels like a masterpiece.

That eventually goes away and it becomes annoying linear and repetetive, but by then you will probably be so entrenched in the mechanics that you'll want to stick through the suck. If not, you can still get like 100+ hours of exploration, coming across some pretty crazy shit.
So if you are aware of the potential drawbacks in the game and are OK with them, I still highly recommend it.

It's not an RPG though, and the story barely makes any sense, so keep that in mind if that's important to you. The story is basically flavour.. It's crazy and leads to some really great art design in the world and characters, but I find it to be "a bad story" in itself.

that's why i enjoyed no build so much better, in 30v30 most the time i don't even see who's killing me, and when i'm about to kill someone they just start walling around themselves and up.

damn kids too fast at building :lol

Hondaracer 08-16-2022 12:14 PM

Play warzone if you’re just looking for a battle royale type game, it’s awesome

GLOW 08-17-2022 02:56 PM

i do try warzone, my problem is
1) i suck and can't shoot for shit
2) everyone is so good and i die before i even know what hit me
3) seems everyone has better stuff than me
4) i suck and can't shoot for shit

:lol

i just play zombies at the moment b/c that seems to be a mode i can play longer b/c i come back as a zombie with a chance to revive

Hondaracer 08-17-2022 03:24 PM

I’ve neverrrrr been a fan of COD multiplayer, compared to Battlefield it always seemed like such a twitch fest

Warzone however you can play a bit slower especially rebirth. If you have a friend or 2 to play with you basically continue to respawn as long as they stay alive. I’ve been playing with friends since I got a PS5 at Xmas but I still suck lol but it’s so much fun I don’t really rage or anything when I die lol.

Try to use machine guns and SMG’s might have a bit more success

SkinnyPupp 08-17-2022 03:41 PM

I tried Warzone a few times and it was just a bunch of dudes camping. And that was my first non bot game which presumably should have been with other noobs!

Also it feels like there's some sort of aim assist, even with a mouse. The recoil is weird.

And the issue I have with hitscan weapons.. Snipers aren't hitscan but everything else is I think
