My friend in Calgary got sick a week ago and was told to self isolate until he could get tested. 3 days later, he's getting tested right now, waiting to hear back from him on the results :heckno:

People adapt

Vaccine isn't automatic either. We have YEARLY vaccines for influenza which kills more people than C19, and does it every year, and it only reduces it by what, 30%?

The main thing we (may) have going with C19 is that it (may) not be seasonal (meaning it won't leap back and forth across hemispheres like influenza, staying alive and mutating every year)

Also a C19 vaccine (MAY) have potential to be used against all coronaviruses, including SARS and even the common cold.

It's all so up in the air, and we learn more every single day. There's no way to count on anything at this point. Just have to deal with it the best we can, day by day. For now that means stay home, and wear a mask if you have to go out. Wash your hands lots. Etc.

I agree right now the best thing we can do is stay home and do what we can. As you said though, the flu kills more people and it hasn't made people wear masks to avoid it. If anything, they'll develop a vaccine and then after that they'll let Jesus take the wheel and let the chips fall where they may as far as deaths go. The people who know they are vulnerable will take the necessary precautions and the rest of us will go on with life.

Neighbour is having a party :rukidding:

westopher 04-12-2020 07:58 PM

I’m less amazed that someone is retarded enough to have a party than I am that they know enough people that are fucking stupid enough to go.
If I were stupid enough to try and have a party there’s a good chance at least 99 out of 100 of my friends would tell me to go fuck myself.

police non-emergency line? that's clearly negligent behaviour. being socially distant outside is acceptable imo but a house party? hell no

StylinRed 04-12-2020 08:15 PM

Police are here, didn't need to call :lol

I was looking to see if we have a social distancing report line/app like they do in the states, but nope

It's teens/20s surprised their parents are fine with it, looks like a bday party

highfive 04-12-2020 08:21 PM

I don’t even know what to think, my neighbour came out to meet her friend and her boyfriend. She hugged her friend and offered her friend to try her vape pen. Her friend did and chatted outside for a while. I’m like sure no social distancing but wtf sharing shit now too? Lol

Did the party get disbanded?

If you don’t mind me asking, what neighborhood/city do you live in?

320icar 04-12-2020 08:49 PM

party every weekend at the house down the street from me. But to be fair it is a bunch of young people who live there (big house, maybe 8-10 people). No outside guests, just the residents. To someone from outside the neighborhoods it looks bad

This is out in Ridge

I think it was disbanded, the loud music, chatty voices, and cars are gone

SkinnyPupp 04-12-2020 09:14 PM

Were the police wearing masks?

twitchyzero 04-12-2020 09:33 PM

afaik police are still focusing on crimes like B&E

maybe if you see like 50+ together or a big public orgy i believe directing to city bylaws is more appropriate

I haven't checked the stats in a few days but weren't 40% of the hospitalizations in the US under 40's at one point?

Couldn't see them, could only see their patrol car lights

not trying to pick a fight or anything but it sounds like you're justifying this as ok somehow. am i missing something? unless they live together (literally in the same house) this isn't ok.

That literally sounds like what's happening, 8-10 people who all live in the same house.

No shit eh?

I read that breaking your 14 day quarantine, after you've arrived from abroad, could result in fine of $100 to $1M. I literally lol'd cause no one's getting fined for anything. Take StylinRed's neighbors - everyone who didn't live there should've got a $500 fine. Right now everything is just suggestions and threats, no teeth.

Edit. Just catching up on the day's news. The dude that spit on the elevator in the False Creek condo, was identified - where's his fine? Public apology and a donation to the strata to cover the cost of cleaning :fuckthatshit:.

You may be right. The US population is a different breed of it own. Healthy young population isn't what comes to mind. Or mind you, maybe it’s all those Florida kids. Lol. Pretty sure the stats still show it isn’t the young dying.

He said that it's all people that live in the same house.

ok, my mistake. i was interpreting that as kids living in the same neighbourhood, not the same house.
