Yup ... BC is the hardball province. BC government "unwilling" to allow NHL teams travel into province: report https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc-g...travel-canucks |
The Official 2020/2021 Canucks & NHL Thread Michael Buble sings some Christmas carols to the staff at Canucks Place. Petey was also at Canucks place to spread some Christmas cheer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
With ON going full lockdown on Dec 26th ... how can they have games in Toronto and Ottawa by Jan 15? |

Semi-related, NBA is 2 days into the season and already had to post-pone the Houston game because 4 players tested positive. Contact tracing initiated at a hair salon that 3 players went to on the same day. Star player James Harden went to a strip club to "support a friend" :seriously: |

Go, Raptors, GO. Only because free fries at McDonald's if the Raptors score 15 - tres the night before. |
Damn, watching the IIHF tourney. What's with the play by play and commentators? Says, the goalie is very economical. Economical? He probably meant to say efficient. Then says, a breath of fresh air for Canada....... right after the long awaited second goal. Probably meant sigh of relief? Just awkward. Anyway, we are spoiled watching HNIC. Foster Hewitt, Danny Gallivan, Dick Irvine, Bob Cole, Ron MacLean, Jim Robson, Jim Hughson, et al. What's the worst is the american play by play announcers and colour commentators. |
That’s the world juniors dream team for the last 10-15 Imo the WJ tourney has lost its luster compared to when it was the years with Eberle, etc. Even in the last 5 or so it’s been pretty bad, the level of competition is all over the place. Although with that said I was at the gold medal game with the fins vs USA a few years back and that was amazing |

I guess, if you think of being efficient as saving energy............... Anyway, everybody needs to start somewhere. I'm sure Foster Hewitt wasn't born with the talent to paint a picture with is words and voice from day one. |

no preseason games this year |
When the Canadian division was proposed, I liked the idea and the Leafs chances. With Corey Perry in Montreal, it reminds me of how gritty and physical the Canadian teams play each other. I don't know that the additions of Simmonds, Thornton, and Bogosian will be enough, given how soft they have been under Dubas. The Division will be interesting to say the least. How are the officials and DoPS going to call things when they no longer have to worry about optics like favouring American teams? |
Wow, Chara signs with Capitals |
Boston loses Krug and Chara in the same offseason, Marchand and Pastrnak on LTIR to start the season ... The one year where the Leafs may actually want to face Boston and they can't :lawl: |
Oh yea forgot Marchand and Pasta on LTIR, so the decision likely didn’t come from cap space as I originally had though |

Rumour is Hutton to Boston. Also, Canucks kicking the tires on Vatanen again. It's being reported that there was some tire kicking on Hamonic as well. We could use a vet dman for 3rd pair on the cheap cheap. |
Hamonic is basically a shittier version of Tanev. Vatanen provides offense but another injury-prone dman. I think I take Hamonic over Vatanen given the current makeup of the Canucks but, truth be told, would’ve rather kept Stecher for this spot. |
This Podkolzin kid man.. (#19 Russia) He's a hard worker. He can pass. He seems to be playing better when he's mad or when the pressure's on. Imaging having both Horvat and Podkolzin driving nets one after the other. Virtanen might catch on and drive nets too. |
