Sounds reliable...

He was pretty quick to sign with Montreal and post up photos of his childhood connection with them... also even when the summer season ended my buddy who’s a massive Habs fan said they were after Toffoli from the getgo... also based on many reports....

I gather the Knuckleheads lost. Good thing I stopped watching after second period.

So Canucks haven't actually scored a single goal on Calgary yet..
Calgary just put 2 in their own net.

MG1 01-18-2021 10:07 PM

Time for the Canucks organization to drop and pass Newell Brown.

The game of hockey is forever changing. Dude is irrelevant. If he's not going to get creative, time to move on to.................... broadcasting?

Expresso 01-19-2021 08:37 AM

We had the 4th best powerplay in the league last year, let's give it a bit more time lol.

pastarocket 01-19-2021 10:30 AM

Another concern for the team is the PK. The penalty kill sucks right now.

Tyler Toffoli wants to stay in Vancouver. Source? Tyler Toffoli.

“I want to stay in Vancouver and that’s my number one priority as of right now,” said Toffoli in a Zoom call with the media from his home in Los Angeles.

68style 01-19-2021 11:09 AM

I’m aware of that.

But that’s just his words to the media immediately after the season ended, unless you’re his personal friend or family member or agent you don’t know what he was doing in the background.

I don’t know why you’re always so condescending on any Canucks posts. Do you work in their head office? I can appreciate all the statistical and salary cap analysis that’s all data that’s available, but to act like you know every single thing happening from an administrative and managerial perspective? It’s just your opinion, not fact.

Too predictable.. hughes either passes it to boeser or petey for the one timer.

Should fuck around and put schmidt on there. hell put myers in front like chara

Sw0op 01-19-2021 12:46 PM

uhm...ive been following them pretty closely this preseason and he's just echoing what all the insider reports were pretty much saying...

discussions never gotten to the point of "offer territory" for tofuman but it did seem like he liked it here with the team/city/players and wanted to make it work but JB's priority was Markstrom first and foremost with maybe a slight mention to Tanev next

Nah, GMJB's priority was working on that OEL trade and all the current Canucks like Marky, Tanev, Stech, and Tylerfoli got tired/annoyed of waiting for that to play out before they were addressed.

Honestly, can't say I fault them for feeling a bit disrespected.

Liquid_o2 01-19-2021 01:50 PM

You have to be able to handle multiple players and contracts at a time as a GM. From an outsiders perspective it seemed that GMJB didn't have a game plan at all for the team in the off season. He moved from player to player trying to re-sign them. Focus was on Markstrom and OEL trade. Once those fell through, he moved onto Tanev. Toffoli and Stecher were down the list and probably weren't even contacted.

68style 01-19-2021 02:46 PM

^ This is all entirely conjecture.

Someone could see your company making 5 widgets in an day and then say “from an outsiders perspective I think Liquid o2 went into work today and probably answered 1 phone call and focused on 1 widget and didn’t even bother with the other 4” but that person wasn’t privy to all you did in your day.

I mean you’re basically accusing him of dereliction of his most basic duties as a GM?

Hondaracer 01-19-2021 02:57 PM

Well has he even been able to make an effective trade outside of the Miller deal?

Seems fine at Drafting but his management of assets and the cap definitely raises some red
Flags

Off the top of my head

Trades:
Miller
Schmidt
Motte

Signings:
Ryan Miller
Vanek

Hondaracer 01-19-2021 03:28 PM

Schmidt basically fell into their lap

SkinnyPupp 01-19-2021 03:48 PM

I'm sure an NHL GM is just spending all his time on one player at a time, because that's all he can do what with all the other important roles like tweeting and watching TV. I'm sure he has no help either, as managing an NHL team is a one man job.

It could of been any one of the 29 other laps though.

I can't find it, but there was an interview at the time that he basically admitted that he put in a lot of his time and effort leading up to free agency on trying to get Markstrom signed. I realize he couldn't do much until he knew whether Marky was going to re-sign, but I think he waited too long and lost out on his other players.
