The worst mistakes (besides the obvious LE deal) were signing all those "veteren presence" 4th line plugs Beagle and Roussell for 3m each that were totally unnecessary back then and looking even worse now. Their role was already defined before they signed, you could easily find similar role players for the veteran minimum. Actually I think signing LE at that time, didn't look as bad as he was still a decent player, the term was effed but whatever. |
In hindsight should have just let Jake walk |
^ again, if it weren’t for pursuing OEL, we could’ve kept Toffoli, Stecher and Shotgun. OEL was too big of a prize to ignore. Going for the shiny new toy cost us in the long run. Context matters and shit happens. |

Maybe he would have been invisible if the Canucks didn't make him look like a superstar. |

But seriously when can we play the Senators again? FeelsBadMan |

I'd like to see every single person that said "we have it so might as well use it" say that with a straight face now. |
Lollll a guy from Canucks twitter successfully managed to troll Tony DeAngelo into thinking he was traded, through his burner twitter account. He even contacted his agent. Epic: |
Was following this DeAngelo story on some other stuff too... the guy really is dumber than a sack of doorknobs. |
Canucks GM Jim Benning ‘kind of ran out of time,’ couldn’t move money to keep Tyler Toffoli Well that confirms it. If he didn't tie up all that cap on bums ... |
Nothing we didn't know already. Bad cap management over the past 4 years by signing bottom six forwards to big deals is what has put them in this predicament. And it isn't going to get better next year - Hughes, Petey and Demko will all need new deals. No idea how they are going to fit them in, plus re-sign Pearson and Edler. |

UFA Edler: 6m Sutter: 4.375m Pearson: 3.75m Benn: 2m Hamonic: 1.25m Baertschi: 2.29m Spooner: 1.03m Total coming off the books: 20.695m RFA Gaudette: 0.95 Pettersson: 0.925 Hughes: 0.916 Juolevi: 0.863 Chatfield: 0.7 Demko: 1.05 Hawryluk: 0.8 Bailey: ??? Brisebois: ??? Michaelis: ??? Rafferty: ??? Safe to assume that Benn, Hamonic, Baertschi and Spooner are going to UFA so that frees up 6.57m in cap space. Edler, Sutter and Pearson may or may not re-sign with the team but I think it's heavily dependent on the dollar amounts. Management obviously likes having those 3 players on the team and what they bring, so it's just a matter of balancing the books. On the flip side, players can also opt to chase money as a UFA, but given how bad COVID has screwed up the economy then it's also assumed that they might not be getting big money contracts (see this past UFA period) I'd welcome them back at reduced salaries but not at their current amounts. I'd like to see Pearson retained for the simple fact that he seems to click well with Bo and it was a long time before the team found consistent wingers for him to develop with. I don't know about Hawryluk cause he got screwed by Motte and has been on IR ever since. Rafferty has shown great promise in the AHL and limited time up here so worth keeping around. I don't know who Michaelis is but outside of him, pretty much every RFA brings a net positive to the team and should be re-signed. Problem with all of this is that our RFA group also has our two best players so I hope GMJB doesn't "run out of time" |
i dont think it'll take much to convince the kids to take a bridge deal, especially during flat cap. getting them to wait a couple years could help them get a much better contract. CH28 already covered next year's #s, but just look 1 more year ahead. -luongo recapture of 3 mil for 1 more year -roussel, and beagle, 3 mil each for 1 more year -loui's 6 mil also comes off the books in 1 year that's at least 15 mil total that'll be freed up. |
Tuned in just in time to see my boy Hoagie knock one in SeemsGood Edit: Hoagie with the assist! could have been either of them LUL |
Whorey fucking Conan the Barbarian........... wtf was that? I didn't want to log in and post on RS, but that anthem singing??? was unfuckingbelievable. I got home, turned on the TV, cranked up the audio so I could hear the game while I put the groceries away. I heard the beginning of the anthem and heard some of the middle as I walked back. I thought it was the doppler effect........... like how an amberlamps siren changes pitch as you move away from it. The girl, I think it was a she.............. someone needs to show her how to put make up on properly........... anyway, I just sat down and replayed the thing. I can't believe it. She changed pitch in the middle of the tune. Not a key change, a total.......... I don't know how to explain it. It's like someone moved the pitch control on a turntable. And this embellishment. I understand grace notes, turns, mordents, glissando, and such, but what was that at the end? Marianne > than this little girl. /rant Carry on carrying on............. em out! |
What’s up with Miller these days, guy is just a giveaway machine... and then gets absolutely turn-styled by Matthews |
This reminds me of those Vegas games where all the Canucks could do was make it to the neutral zone, turn it over, then go back to their zone for another shift |
doesnt that matthews guy got a security guard he's gotta go moon or something |
Nice response by Bo to that shithead goal LUL |
we can at least credit them for not giving up easily here. down a goal, there's still some hope.... for now! |
Two brutal non calls on the Laffs in that last segment |
Make that three |
ok this game is done. |
Seems like this team is fundamentally broken. Totally unlike the playoffs or Jets game |
it's ironic that Benning claims he was focusing on shoring up our goaltending and defense and yet that's exactly what it feels like we're lacking lol. |
Benning must go. |
