Tired Myers almost threw it away

nm, Devils are just a better team

pastarocket 12-05-2023 08:57 PM

I wonder what Tocchet will say to the team after this loss.

-saw defensive breakdowns for sure in this game.

Haula’s goal happened as a result
Of no one playing defence in front of Demko. Zadorov was busy near the boards as his giraffe buddy Myers gave up the puck during a battle at the boards.

I am still trying to figure out why Myers just slid it over to Jack Hughes in the corner on goal #2... so bizarre... I have no idea what that dude is thinking half the time.

Demko's rebound control was atrocious tonight.

AzNightmare 12-05-2023 09:30 PM

What a fucking embarrassment.

whitev70r 12-05-2023 10:38 PM

All the Hughes brothers got points ...

Myers hockey IQ isn't his strong suit. But Miller should have not left 56 all by himself either.

Just as i guessed. There weak play over the last couple of weeks is not improving. Demko seems tired, EP40 is either injured or is in a rut. Soucy and Suter being out seems to be causing issues for the team.

I'm still trying to figure out if Jack Hughes just made a genius read on Myers because Quinn has been bitching about Myers to his bros over the years.

Never seen a guy just completely dip out of a board battle like that, only to wait for a giveaway that almost looked like it was predicted. :fulloffuck:

The F going with Demko? He's been moving like Gumby in the last few games.

Yeah, I wasn't great at hockey back when I played...

Harvey Specter 12-06-2023 02:06 PM

Lmao

spoon.ek9 12-06-2023 02:47 PM

those long, girthy green legs didn't help you eh?

pastarocket 12-07-2023 09:14 AM

The lack of depth on the Canucks defence is being exposed now with Soucy out with injury.

Every team that does their pre game scouting knows that Myers is the weak link on our defence. The giraffe is a turnover machine.

Tocchet has no choice but to play Myers with more minutes with Soucy out.

Trading this weaksauce D-man is a big challenge for Allvin.

teggy604 12-07-2023 09:45 AM

What happens to our D prospects? are non of them good enough? Does the Canucks have shitty hockey development?

whitev70r 12-07-2023 09:58 AM

yah, similar thoughts .. have Hronek, now Zadorov, of course Hughes ... surely, they carry one 'just good enough' Dman in the #4 spot.

Maybe Myers was suppose to be that guy but he's a liability?

Hondaracer 12-07-2023 10:03 AM

Radio made a good point yesterday in that the Canucks go as myers goes

No one was saying shit about myers a month ago when the Canucks were hanging out wins, even though there were plentiful defensive lapses across the board even then.

But now, all players forward and defense are missing assignments, getting caught out of place, etc. and it looks especially bad when it happens to Myers so he’s the easy whipping boy once again lol

68style 12-07-2023 10:15 AM

I was still hating on Myers that whole time, he's just brutal and that never changes. One of those "winning despite ____" scenarios.

He was also playing season low minutes during that win streak.

Hondaracer 12-07-2023 10:16 AM

He’s obviously not worth 6m a year, but he eats minutes and stays healthy. I generally don’t notice him outside of the huge glaring issues

Depending on who comes in, it could be him and Bear filling that 5th/6th spot by the end of the year

68style 12-07-2023 10:20 AM

He's gone after this year for sure, his $6M will be needed to top up salaries on every other UFA/RFA we need and the $5 mill cap increase will go straight into Petey's pocket

Alpine 12-07-2023 11:16 AM

We'll have some big gaps on D next year as Cole and Myers will be gone and we need to re-sign Petey and Hronek. Kuzy is another question, although maybe this is the FO's grand plan to re-sign him for cheap by turning him into Tocchet's whipping boy.

We need our younger guys to take the next step.

teggy604 12-07-2023 11:50 AM

The only Dman coming back next year is Hughes. All the other Dman are UFA or RFA. Could be a whole new D core coming next year.

68style 12-07-2023 11:50 AM

Kuz is done here as long as Tocchet is around… they will not re-sign him. Tocchet can’t stand the dude.

I could see Hronek staying to play with Quinn.

let's not forget that OEL's dead cap hit goes from $146k this year to $2.34M next year. Then 2025-2027 it's $4.76M

I feel like we're in a win now, worry about it later mode with the early on success. Considering all the moves Allvin has made, I'm feeling more confident in his competency to figure things out after this season.

whitev70r 12-07-2023 03:55 PM

Speaking of OEL, how's he doing in Florida?
