Well... yah obviously... but it's been 4 seasons now and he's been criticized for his work ethic / work rate mostly... that's not a learning the ropes issue.

whitev70r 01-09-2024 08:14 AM

Petterssen and Nylander statistically about the same. So you can look at $11.5/yr depending on term and length.

spoon.ek9 01-09-2024 09:15 AM

I think that's where his next contract was trending regardless. Now that Nylander is signed, it's basically guaranteed. I wouldn't be surprised if his agent asks for a bit more, perhaps $12.0M. From everything we've seen from Petey, I think vast majority of fans will agree he's worth it. These kinds of numbers also make JT's contract look a lot better for value.

TML are $10mill over the cap now and relying on nearly $13mill in IR relief to even exist at this point... not sure what their plan is tbh. Everyone on IR just happens to get healthy why playoffs start like TBL and then figure it out in the offseason?

spoon.ek9 01-09-2024 10:12 AM

It's a cheat code that the league allows so.... yeah. Until they deem it's unacceptable, it's a strategy. They'll probably find some kind of way to grandfather in a penalty for the Canucks too :lol

68style 01-09-2024 10:20 AM

I have so much anxiety about the Canucks ever winning a cup that I feel like even if it ever does happen in my lifetime, somehow it will get reversed. Like Bettman will come down and grab the mic and say actually upon video review a previous game is being changed and the other team wins and he tells the mullet dude to hand the Cup to them instead.

spoon.ek9 01-09-2024 10:26 AM

I just want it to happen at least once before I leave this world :alone:

Just once...

68style 01-09-2024 10:37 AM

We used to joke about that in my circle of closest friends and it was super funny until 2 of them died in the last couple years :okay:

That's what I want as well, especially doing it before the Leafs do it. being the first Canadian team to win the cup in 30 years would be epic.

winson604 01-09-2024 12:09 PM

It's literally the only time I ever say I would be happy to just be the Calgary Flames because at least they've won a cup :(

bcuzracecarz 01-09-2024 12:23 PM

Petey will get 11.5-12 is my guess without a doubt. Need to get Zadorov and Hronek locked in if we are expecting to do anything in the next few years

bobbinka 01-09-2024 01:11 PM

petey, miller, boeser in top 7 of all-star voting right now, while demko is first in goalies. there could be 5 canucks all stars this year

EvoFire 01-09-2024 01:24 PM

^ It's not a great thing imo because where other teams get rest, our top players are still traveling and playing and not getting a break. That video posted in the last page where the player was planning to go to San Diego for a small getaway? Yeah that kind of sucked.

bobbinka 01-09-2024 01:36 PM

it's a 3 day thing and less intensive than a practice. they'll be fine. i believe the entire break is 9 days long anyway.

They are going to 'Joffrey Lupul' Tavares next year ... he's on the last year of his $11M/yr contract.

Canucks complete the NY area sweep!

spoon.ek9 01-09-2024 08:31 PM

another dominate performance. i love that they're playing with all sorts of confidence and it's basically been the same mentality all season long!

murd0c 01-10-2024 07:11 AM

crazy that was the first time the Canucks ever swept NY, man they are rolling right now.

EvoFire 01-10-2024 08:17 AM

The commentator was saying the record so far this year ties 2010/2011 as the Islander game is the halfway mark. I'm hoping for a run

murd0c 01-10-2024 08:22 AM

If the Canucks stay healthy anything is possible. I would expect Allvin to make a move here quickly if they plan to go all in. The sooner a move is made the less the Canucks should hopefully pay since the trade deadline is still 2 months away.

Yeah, I think that the Canucks are one player away from being a true Stanley Cup contender. Team needs to stay healthy and continue to play consistently.

Damn, even Myers scored a goal last night against the Islanders. LUL

whitev70r 01-10-2024 08:48 AM

The year that Canucks decide to be an impressive contender, the Jets are on top of the league standings ... Canucks not even the best team north of the 49th! :okay:

Maybe ... this is the year a Canadian team wins the SC.

EvoFire 01-10-2024 09:09 AM

Such a bummer the Jets are not in the Eastern Conference. A Canucks vs Jets finals would have Canada pumping, but also probably most of Canada rooting for the Jets.

whitev70r 01-10-2024 09:51 AM

2 Canadian teams in the SCF can still happen ... oh, but the Leafs have to get past round 2 first ...:lol.
