Keeping a healthy weight, body fat percentage, etc., also tends to show up in your blood work. You could feel 'fine', but I don't think anyone here is interested in developing Type 2 diabetes, or taking a bunch of pills for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.

A guy I've known for 35+ years shared with me that he takes a bunch of pills to keep his levels in check. He eats out a lot and is overweight. I don’t think a lot of guys in their 40s should be on a pill cocktail unless they have pre-existing conditions. It was definitely somewhat sad to hear.

Yeah totally, "I glazed her face like a Krispy Kreme" makes total sense to me. Not this context.

My cousin got type 2. Was given a bunch of pills to manage the condition. Him being a certified AAA retard, he thought the pills would magically treat his body, allowing him to continue eating whatever he wanted.

Then he lost his eyesight

No diet change

Then he lost proper use of his legs (used a cane)

No diet change

And then he died

Left his wife and kids traumatized. God only knows how much they warned him and he didn't listen. Took his ego right to the grave.

I see this a lot at my work place (and I don't need to tell you guys which city I work in.) What I don't understand is if they are aware they have this condition, ignoring it only leads to one result - death.

Diet - no change.
Lifestyle - no change.
Outlook on life - no change (but who am I to judge?)

Granted, this isn't restricted to specific cultures or races, but it's very prevalent within the community we have in mind.

I remember taking a flight at a major airport in a particular Asian subcontinent. I was wisked away to skip the line and I asked the flight attendant why there are so many people on wheelchairs? She laughed and said to me, "Oh, just diabetes. lol"

spoon.ek9 10-22-2025 04:41 PM

Some people either don't take it seriously or just don't care and would rather "go out" on their own terms despite the pain it will cause their loved ones. Tbh, it's a pretty selfish way to leave this world. I understand it can be difficult to make those lifestyle changes but you have to at least try.

Badhobz 10-22-2025 04:47 PM

yeah well some of us dont wanna be around for that long okay, so somebody saw off my leg and take my eyes, but dont you dare touch those krispy kreme doughnuts.

bcrdukes 10-22-2025 05:19 PM

Do you want glaze on your face? :suspicious:

spoon.ek9 10-22-2025 05:27 PM

He said in a previous post he actually asked for the donuts before they hit the glaze lol. Bro likes it dry.

I've heard sometimes the flight miraculously cures them, and they're able to grab their luggage from the overhead, and make it out under their own power.

Or they pass out during takeoff, causing the pilot to abort during the takeoff run, offload them at the gate, and then continue on an hour late.

TBH my guess was Philippines too lol. Love my flip friends and coworkers but they make some wildly irresponsible decisions when it comes to food :lol

What kind of person did Badhobz get into a fight with at the KFC parking lot (and subsequently went to jail for?) :D

Very much so. An insane amount of refined sugar in their diet. Jolibee makes McDonald’s seem like something professional athletes eat exclusively.

So finding time to go to the gym is a constant challenge, for example the last two weeks I don't have time to go because there's just no way to find 90 minutes to ditch my kids with my wife by themselves. Not that I can't but I feel bad doing it.

To solve that I picked up an indoor rower for a full body cardio exercise and do a set of calisthenics as well.

Now I'm looking at a free standing pull up/dip setup because I hated the doorframe one I had. I talked to a friend who recommended a 4 post power rack. Now I'm in the rabbit hole of looking at a 4 post power rack, which would give me the potential of putting together a squat rack in the future.

I'm at a bit of a dilemma because part of the reason for a pull up/dip bar was just simplicity and it's $150 for a bar I THINK meets my needs.

The allure of growing into a squat rack is enticing though, but that comes at a significantly higher cost as putting together a squat rack would run up to $1000. And the space it takes.

Badhobz 11-04-2025 03:03 PM

You can’t leave them alone for 90 minutes ?!?! I highly suggest you take the 90 minutes as some “ME” time. They won’t die in 90 minutes.

Who knows you might find a new shanghainese wife in the gym.
