Are we starting up a weight gain thread yet? Thanksgiving just passed, we got Halloween next and then we're at Xmas.

I'm pretty much been stuck around 172-173lb since July - I just don't have the discipline to manage a calorie deficit properly. OTOH, my gym work is paying off - when I run into people I haven't seen in a few months and keep getting the "Have you been working out? You look great." comments - I wished I had taken photos of when I started as it can be hard to see the progress sometimes (I did have some new headshots done recently and I do look appreciably thinner than a year ago).

Guys, I'm not even making this up when I post this. The amount of times I have laughed while on video during my lectures is uncountable. My classmates and professors have called me out, "What's so funny, bcrdukes? Care to share?"

How do I share a post like this?

And if I accidentally copy/paste something like this into my thesis and it gets read by the ethics committee and the academic review board, I am beyond fucked.

Just like we are trying to actively kill BiC Baws with parasite-infested Salmon, i think by reading RS while studying, you are actively trying to throw away 60k MBA program.

Back up to 211, made a prop bet with a friend who's also 211, to see who can get closest to 190 by Dec 30!

Here's how I'm seeing it: take it week by week during the fall/winter/holiday months. Even a few days at a time if that's all you can manage.

Allow yourself to enjoy the holidays and the good food. If you can manage to squeeze in 3-7 days of a controlled deficit, great! That's still better than zero control altogether. It's kind of like how those food challenge youtubers stay fit/relatively skinny: deficit 6 days of the week, food challenge once per week.

Your body can only absorb so much in one day of pigging out, the rest just goes to waste. If you're in a deficit the rest of the week, you'll be able to stay on track.

What's with some of you guys and massive weight fluctuations?

A 20 lb swing in less than a year is huge. Too many beers on the golf course or something? Us uncs with kids have an excuse for laziness... not young guys with money to spend at the gym, personal trainers, and all of the time in the world to meal prep and track macros.

westopher 10-16-2025 11:36 AM

I find I never vary more than 5# either way from centre but my obeseness fluctuates substantially in there. I can be 175 and fit or 175 and fat in a few months time pending diet and exercise but never seem to get far off my weight.

Excellent! youre a doctor or something, so ill listen to you and use this as an excuse to eat like 10 plates of sashmi and 10 oyster motoyaki's in one sitting.

gotta make back my 88 dollars per person AYCE sushi

spoon.ek9 10-16-2025 12:37 PM

you better be doing 6 days a week of calorie deficit to make that true lol

Badhobz 10-16-2025 01:12 PM

Uhhh I rather not.

EvoFire 10-16-2025 01:22 PM

I can swing 10lbs in a month, has a lot to do with what I eat, and how well I sleep and how much water I'm retaining.

Lazy lifestyle changes due to early stage dating + gf debuff.

Stopped playing,
- golf 1-2 days less in exchange for teaching gf how to golf a week is 15-30,000 steps gone - 1,000 - 2,000 calories surplus
- racket sport 1-4 hours a week x 2 days = 600 calories surplus
- Volleyball season ending for summer 700 cal x 3 session = 2,100 calorie surplus
- stopped running 1x a week

Combined that's already 4,700 calories or 1.3lbs a week x 12 weeks of summer = 16lbs + 4 lbs because it's sept and oct and I'm not fixing it

This is before adding beers that my gf likes to drink, travel, potlucks, extra eating from dating, etc. My average daily steps has gone up in 2025 though, averaging 9,900 steps per day so far and that's not always wearing my apple watch for sports.

Honestly, I hate exercise and doing hard things, but that's life. Body fat is around 18ish % atm, haven't gymmed for 5-6 months. Travelled too much the last 12 months. /endrant

Sounds like your GF is a major drag on your life, better be having circus sex to offset all the sedentary stuff and calorie consumption lol

GLOW 10-16-2025 02:48 PM

gerbs: gonna need your help losing calories
gf: i'll support you, of course honey, what do you need from me?
gerbs: circus sex

68style 10-16-2025 02:51 PM

You can thank me later

spoon.ek9 10-16-2025 02:52 PM

At some point gf has to stop being an excuse lol. I know, I dated gf for about a year before I felt like an absolute slob and had to turn it around. If she's a good gf, she'll be supportive and who knows, maybe she'll want to lose the lbs along side you.

No excuses, I need to be more disciplined again. She's luckily not chonks, can't date tortas KEKW

Cutting is always easy for me though, the process is annoying. With this competition gonna try to do 1.5-2lbs a week and see what happens. Got to run today already which is good.

red kryptonite 10-16-2025 03:06 PM

“My RS buddy said u should be a good gf and could loose a few lbs yourself “
Please report back.

spoon.ek9 10-16-2025 03:17 PM

I work with security guards so she can come at me bro, it's ok :smug:

68style 10-16-2025 03:18 PM

"security guards"

spoon.ek9 10-16-2025 03:24 PM

I wouldn't doubt (some) of them. I've seen some situations here that were handled by them :lol

Although, if it's the tiny chicks on staff when I get attacked by Gerbs' gf, then I'm probably hooped. They ain't holding anyone back.

Yeah, if I move by 3lbs it's really noticeable for me - if I'm up 3lbs in a couple days it's pretty much guaranteed that I'm taking 3 shits that day to get back down. I can't imagine moving 10lbs in a few weeks (or on a vacation) like some folks here.

Did I mention I gained 13lbs while away in HK and Japan and my daily steps were at least 20-25,000/day (both walking + running when in HK)

red kryptonite 10-16-2025 10:07 PM
