Anyone ever get a Dexa scan? Who did you use? Was it useful? Got curious as my trainer is getting one done as he's doing a bulk right now.

One thing I'm frustrated with, not sure if you guys in 30s/40s can relate, I can see my upper abs, but my lower belly fat is still pretty prominent even though the previous beer belly is mostly gone. I guess I have to drop another 10 pounds or more? I don't recall myself having this lower belly fat when I was in shape at 150 pounds when I was in my 20s...

I think it really comes down to training at that point. I fell for that that I believed if I slimmed down I could look kinda cut but totally not happening. I’ve dropped the 10# I wanted to and really have nothing left to lose after about 6 months of basically not drinking and eating well/cardio. But nothing short of focused muscle building in the spot will give the results I (and assume you) want.

I did a dexa for fun, I have a 10 pack with like 8 more passes for sale at like $30.

Lower ab fat is normal in your 30s and 40s, we all accumulate fat over time, which is normal.

The only way to mitigate that is to drop more weight, but even then, you may never be as "lean" as you were in your early 20s, hormonal changes take a big part in that.

You can definitely work on your lower abs to tone that area, and correct posture so that your hips don't "push" out the stomach, giving that bloated look to the lower stomach. T2Bs (toes to bars) and static holds/hollow body holds are great to force correct your core, bringing that lower back more flat, and therefore pulling that stomach in, giving a better look.

i started working out 2 months ago and somehow i gained like 9lbs. highly doubt that's all muscle lol.
i dont feel like i really changed my diet except i guess i am drinking a protein shake w/ all the fixins. now i have to try to cut a little bit to get closer to my normal weight around 165.
geez man i started working out to feel better and look better and now im getting fatter and that feels bad.

EvoFire 09-04-2025 02:43 PM

When I first started working out when I was overweight, I gained 15lbs before my weight started to drop. I went from 185lbs to 200lbs before sliding back down to 180 over a year. I also cut my carbs hard during that time though.

you need to be in a slight deficit in order to slim down. anytime a person works out without reducing intake, you'll just get bigger. your gains are literally pushing your fat outwards making you feel and look fatter than before you started working out. it's the same reason people tell you there's no such thing as targeted weight loss (ie doing situps thinking that alone will get you a six pack).

Are you in town for the 25th? There's a Save-On at Ironwood Plaza. Do they serve their burgers there? :D

spoon.ek9 09-11-2025 09:34 AM

I've never checked the Ironwood location (or the Steveston location for that matter), but my guess is they don't do the burgers there. Would be cool if they did so I wouldn't have to specifically go to Poco for it lol.

unit 09-11-2025 10:37 AM

do all of the locations that have the save on kitchen thing serve the burgers? there is one in north surrey right off the highway that has that.

It's only a select few, if my memory serves me correctly.

PoCo + North Van (Park and Tllford)

I guess Ironwood doesn't. :okay:

spoon.ek9 09-11-2025 01:40 PM

Save on at Terra Nova for sure doesn't

Mikoyan 09-11-2025 02:26 PM

Ironwood just has their regular deli/bakery there. Spent enough time in there while kids were in swim lessons nearby.

I'm going to be in Coquitlam on Sunday, September 22 to work on a project with my cohort members.

If anyone is up for a burger or happy hour meet at the PoCo Sunwood Save On Foods, we can meet there just like we did last time for the Geriatric Motoring Club meet. This will be good for those of you who cannot make it out to the Stock & Noob Meet on Thursday, September 25 (but why not come to both?) :)

Edit: I should not be posting this in the weight loss thread. :okay:

Badhobz 09-14-2025 03:08 PM

Weird place to post this.

bcrdukes 09-14-2025 03:50 PM

I decided to go full retard for you all
