i would just buy some softshell pants that are WR. your bike ride must only take 5 mins if your walk is 20m. take an umbrella on your walking days.

You are correct, sir. Bike ride is 5-6 mins long! I do bring my umbrella when it's raining. It's the wind blowing water at me that gets my shit soaked. Hence, the want for WR/WP gear.

Re: Goretex - it wasn't till about 3 years ago that I finally got an Arcteryx raincoat and, boy, that shit is great. Picked it up from their North Van outlet store for half price.

I've been wearing Merrell Moabs (the Goretex version) for 15+ years. They're like the A/Ts of shoes: handles absolutely anything. I find that the Goretex liner wears out after a year though with a lot of walking and running around in them. So "treadlife" is not super great: I think I have literally bought 15 pairs of these by now lol. It's worth it though.

I actually think it's the other way around.

It's because the world is getting more and more fucked by the day, that we have to be better at this than our parents.

Imo being a parent is about giving someone a fair shot.

In every generation, fair shot meant something different. It wasn't that long ago that it "just" meant being kept physically safe: keep them warm, fed, healthy, and that was about it.

Now with all this social media bullshit, at a super young age they're going to have to be emotionally resilient, self-aware, self-actualized, and have their shit together to stay ahead of the AI curve.

Longer term, economically, things are going to become increasingly rigged against them. If they're putting in honest hard work, but it's looking like there's no way they're gonna get ahead, I think chipping in a little is the decent thing to do. You'd like to make it fair for them.

And finally, the world has more than enough douchebags. Hopefully by the end of the process, you've helped them become a decent human being.

Am I crazy?

Bought a new fridge a few months ago, paid for delivery. During delivery the delivery guys damage the door pretty badly, door fell over looks like it got hit with crow bar type damage. I tell them to leave it, they've already taken my other one outside, doors had to come off both fridges huge pain in the ass, I'll deal with it getting it fixed or replaced at later date.

Talk to appliance company, they say no problem they'll take care of it. Wait 2 months for new door, follow up with company replacing door and they inform us sorry but door cannot be ordered after two months of waiting.....

Contact LG and appliance store, gets sorted and they order us a new fridge. Fridge is getting delivered right now, delivery guy is like just so you know they are going to charge you for removing the doors from both fridges the damaged one they are taking away and the new one $90.00 for each fridge. I'm like absolutely not, I'm not paying shit, you damaged my new fridge you're replacing my new fridge in what world would I pay for that again, I already paid for delivery once.

The best part? The guy delivering the fridge right now was here when they damaged my fridge originally.....

They were going to leave, I said don't fucking do that I already took all the food out and all that bullshit and I don't want to deal with this anymore. My wife is going scorched earth, trying to calm her down, I tell the guy just swap the fridges I'll deal with the charges.

It's not so much the money, it's the principal. Am I the retard thinking this situation is fucked up?

on principle i'd spend so much time and effort to ensure they do the right thing.
when logitech f'd me on my purchase i probably spent hours to rectify it to ensure i got the discount & refund i was owed. i was explaining to a coworker who thought that was stressful and not worth it. i already crossed the rubicon so i had to ensure i won the battle.

how i felt afterwards, but was worth it knowing I got what was coming to me :lol

I was there kinda spontaneous ... trying to see salmon hump/spawn but too early, didn't see any so went to SaveOn for lunch.

From my finding, there are 2 SaveOn Kitchens where they have items you can order like burgers, has neopolitan style pizza, and carvery, etc. They had a loaded Curry box for like $10.99. So whatever location is closer spoon.ek9

That's fucked up and you're right to feel this way and you should pursue it pretty assertively. I've gotten pretty good at doing the "write the CEO" thing to get resolutions to this kind of stuff as I've worked on the other side of it in the past and know how escalations of stupid shit get handled.

I had a problem with Wealthsimple earlier this year and here's what I wrote (hopefully it's useful):

Jun 20 - Bennie informs me that my wife also needs to sign the doc and I tell him I tried and that there’s nothing in the form for my wife to fill out so I can’t do as he asks. I cc my wife on the response so that Bennie can send her the doc for signing.
Jun 25 - Emmer sends new forms for us to sign. We both separately sign on Jun 26 as that’s what is sent to us. (Forms attached)
Jul 7 - You tell me that my wife has not submitted her form and it appears you don’t have mine either. I’m also informed that because we signed separately that this won’t work.

So...

We’ve been sent the wrong forms 3 times so far and twice the forms have been lost by WS and we’re now 3 weeks into the process. During that time I did tell WS that the forms were wrong (my wife was not being notified or given the ability to sign) and it still went wrong.

I hope you understand how I’m REALLY frustrated that WS keeps sending us forms that are incorrect and then keeps losing them. This experience has been so poor that I’m seriously considering moving my entire portfolio to another provider.

Is there someone (yourself or a team lead/manager) who can ensure that we get the proper forms to sign, will follow up with the back office to ensure they have it, and get the application submitted correctly?
My response was written knowing that I would escalate it to the CEO so I then forwarded the thread to the CEO of WS and added this:
