yep there are definitely a lot of nice designs out there and prices can get really crazy

it would probably be best to strike up a relationship with a local dealer, as long as you can get the watches at a fair price, but it never hurts to shop online

places like Jomashop authenticwatches ashford even costco.ca are all well priced and legitimate websites to buy off of it's just that warranty wont be covered by the manufacturer and so these sites usually provide their own warranty

you could also check out ebay there are some good and reliable sellers on there or even watch-centric website forums that offer great info and dealers which sell in their classifieds sections watchtalkforums.info Watchuseek timezone.com

If I had $500 to play with and I wanted a decent watch, I'd get an automatic Hamilton Khaki King off of Ebay.

I'm confused.
You are looking for a watch that's is around $1500 and you are not looking for Rolex and Panerai (Obviously, because you can't get any of them for ~$1500 anyway).
Now you are posting two pictures as a reference.
One is the Seiko SRP449 which go for ~$250.
Second one is the LOUIS ERARD REGULATOR W/ POWER RESERVE which goes for ~$2500.

:fulloffuck:???

For $1500 range I would maybe suggest a newer Oris Aquis.
What style of watch are you looking for anyway? Another Diver? Dress? Pilot? Tool? Chrono? Taller or thinner case? Swiss? German? Jap?

rb 07-20-2014 12:16 AM

Invicta Grand Diver Automatic. I'm sure the MSRP is close to 1k for the watch (b/c Invicta) but you can pick one up for about $200.

I used to have a Taq Heur, until it got stolen. Then a Seiko. I use my smartphone now.

My "work" watch

http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/012...932.jpg?233621

Oris Challenge International de Tourisme 1932 Limited Edition, lot's of my peers wear really douchey metal band/huge face watches.. and square toe dress shoes :s Circa 2004.

6793026 07-20-2014 11:17 PM

joquio: i'm a diver at heart so i'm into a lot of diver watch. The louis regulator watches MSRP is 2500 but they go for ~1190.

Oris was sort of on my list for a while, somehow the minutes hand being totally off really attracts me.

http://m2.ocarat.com/70430-thickbox/...eseux-7001.jpg love this one as it's diver like and it's a regulator. only problem with Lousi erard is that it's hand wind movement.

http://cdn.watchshop.com/profiler/th...1402059077.jpg this is my next one. citizen, MOFO like a tank... 53 mm

Best bang for your buck in that price range is probably a Nixon.
