^^ 3wks turn-around time isnt bad at all. Where did you have it serviced?

Energy 06-26-2015 10:42 AM

Had it serviced at Otto Friedl. I went with them because the cost was considerably lower than the other shops I looked at.

bcrdukes 06-26-2015 02:41 PM

What did you get serviced specifically?

There was a lot of talk about how Otto Friedl wasn't able to service or get parts for Rolex. I guess it isn't true anymore?

Energy 06-26-2015 03:25 PM

Just the general service you get every 7 years or so.

I don't think they had any problem servicing it or sourcing genuine Rolex parts.

I did not know wtf Oris was until last month. I own a few watches but I don't consider myself a watch guy. In fact the past year I haven't worn any of them.

My uncle and I swapped watches when I went to the Philippines for vacation. It's safe to say I got the better watch.

In the Philippines it seems Oris is more well-known, at least compared to here. The mall I went to had 3 stores that carried Oris.

did they polish your entire watch as well?

Yeah they did a good job polishing it up. It might not look it in the photo because there was dust and some oil from my hands on it at the time from me trying to clean the face... Oops.

I've already scuffed the clasp though :(

I don't know if you guys recall this watch was on a Kickstarter.

I just received the watch today. I wore it right away. It has a nice weight to it, not too heavy, but doesn't feel cheap either. It came with a deployment clasp which initially I thought was plastic, but upon further inspection realized it was a light weight aluminum clasp.

The band is good quality leather. There are brand markings on every piece of this watch. It also came with a second band which is a sport style one. The dial seems extremely accurate, it has a swiss quartz Ronda movement, and the movement of the single hand is not even noticeable.

Overall I really like this watch, I have only had it on for 5 hours since I received it mid day and have gotten many compliments on it. I have a big wrist, and the watch is a 44mm, it's a nice big face.

I had ordered a second one as well, but now have no need for it, so let me know if you would like it. It is the same style as the one in the picture, deployment clasp and second sport style strap.

Ordered this watch. Hopefully it has decent quality. I want to have a few bands in different colours. Was thinking of one blue and one yellow. Thoughts?

So many watches try to look like either the Rolex or the Breitling, I even have trouble identifying them from far.

^ and IWC

Where do you guys buy your watches usually.? What's a good store to check out

bcrdukes 07-10-2015 08:34 PM

Any particular brand you are after?

kcl38 07-10-2015 08:43 PM

Anyone have recommendations for a nice basic watch? Was considering a Weekender or a Weekender Chrono. Going to be working in a hospital setting.

it's a modified Seiko SKX007, I would know because I picked out all the mods myself.

If you pay closer attention, SKX031's crown is located on the 3 o'clock.

Do you have a specific budget in mind? Always have a budget - it will help you narrow down your options and for others to guide you in your search.

It can be $100, $300, $500, $800, $10,000. Decide on how much you are willing to spend so you can make an informed decision. :)
