Has anyone tried a pair of N&F elephant? I'm contemplating on purchasing a pair for my cold Winnipeg Winters but don't know how I would feel about wearing 22 oz. denim in the summer lol. Are they uncomfortable to break in? I know they would be able to take a good beating.

A friend of mine has them.. Looks super rough and uncomfortable.. But yeah, I'd imagine they would last forever

Around 13 different pairs of n&f in size 31-32 at Paul's.
Contemplating transiting in this shitty weather lol.

I've been wearing my 21oz Samurais for 2 years now and I imagine they'll be kind of similar in terms of weight. They won't be any more uncomfortable to break in than any other raw denim. I hate wearing jeans in the summer. If I really needed to wear jeans, I'd go with lighter predistressed denim rather than raw denim.

^any size 31s or 30s?

G 01-24-2012 01:01 PM

Nope.. Only 32 and up I might have gotten last 32's lol.

Only momotaro elephant 2 and left hand twill were the only special denim. Everything else were stretch and broken twill indigo.

Elephants 99, momotaro 140, left hand twill 99.

^From what I remember, smallest was 32. You can call and ask lol

PornMaster 01-24-2012 03:13 PM

will the jeans bleed into dark coloured belts?

G 01-24-2012 03:20 PM

^Huh? Denim bleeds. But it's not like it would change a black colored belt into blue lol. If you have a pretty dark colored belt, it wouldn't affect it that much since it would probably darker than the bleed.

exdee 01-24-2012 04:43 PM

where do you guys usually hem your jeans? and how much?

Its not completely black.
LV graphite

I dont want the jeans to ruin a $500 belt lol

G 01-24-2012 06:18 PM

You should PM and ask -kT or hope he reads this. I think he also uses LV graphite belt with his nudies. He can chime in.

instantneedles 01-24-2012 08:18 PM

I'd think that the material on the high quality LV belts wouldn't absorb ink that much, because it has some sort of protective layer. I'm not sure if its the same material as some of the monogram side bags, but the material on the monogram side bags are fire-proof and water-proof, so it might also potentially be resistant to raw denim dye.

Not really racist! 01-24-2012 11:13 PM

so any ROT for height vs length of jeans for optimal stacking fades?

what are you talking about, the tan inner part? if you don't want it to bleed then don't wear it with your raw denim because it's going to bleed. it'll bleed onto your white shoes, your socks if you tuck your jeans in, your white furniture, whatever. however when i got my belt i had no intention of selling it or anything so it didn't matter to me. it isn't really "ruined" by my definition but it could be by your definition. here's a pic of the inner part

keep in mind this is after..going on about 3 years of almost daily wear

if you have a different graphite than i do (some have tan insides and some have black) and you have the black one, i don't think you have anything to worry about

true to an extent, the outside (the part that shows) is coated with that stuff. my belt still looks brand new from the outside, give or take a few threads. the material on the inner part varies. on mine it's this sorta nubuck suede stuff. i've seen leather insides too

I go to a place at the Harbour Centre called Sun Tailoring. It's pretty good and the staff is very very friendly. It's right at the entrance off Hornby and West Hastings.
