Lol, you sure Darren McCarty wasn't checking you out?

HonestTea 11-02-2008 10:48 PM

Hahaha seems like a pretty cool guy!

AzNightmare 11-02-2008 11:04 PM

heh, So when Demitra gets back, you think Wellwood is gonna get sent down?

Seems like that was a big mistake.

They better think long and hard about sending Wellwood back down. I wouldn't be surprised if another team picks him up off waivers since he seems to be doing very well for the Canucks. He's pretty much been earning at least a point a game since he's been called back up.

hi5-ive 11-02-2008 11:09 PM

haha too bad hes bankrupted but still cool guy! lol

thats easy....waive taylor pylon! give wellwood his spot he deserves it

tigerfan85 11-02-2008 11:11 PM

anybody know if the hockey fights cancer decal can be purchased??

AzNightmare 11-02-2008 11:20 PM

yeah they better keep Wellwood. At first I thought he should stay just because there are probably worse players than him on the team. But now I've realized he's one of the better players on the team.

Soundy 11-02-2008 11:30 PM

Coming into tonight, Wellwood had 3 goals (all on the PP) and 1 assist in 6 games... +1, *no penalties*, and one game-winning goal. He also *leads the team* on face-off percentage at 69%, which is not too shabby.

Edit: in fact, Wellwood is the ONLY CANUCK WITH NO PENALTIES so far this season!

clowe 11-02-2008 11:58 PM

He scored in the shootout the other day as well -- another thing this team desperately needs. He's not bad in the faceoff circle either, he has the highest % on the team at 69%

There's no way Wellwood can be waived again.

Ch28 11-03-2008 12:54 AM

Wellwood has always been a player that rarely ever takes penalties.

He has played in 196 NHL games and only has a total of 14 PIM. 14!!!

He has played 596 games in the OHL, AHL and NHL and his PIM total is only 82!

Tim Budong 11-03-2008 01:07 AM

to say the least
wellwood found the buffet
but yea
taylor pyatt will probably not be waived..as theres pieces like..sigh...krog/hansen/brown/ripyien all those

u never know tho
this mike gillis is unexpected

AzNightmare 11-03-2008 01:26 AM

Although preseason stats don't count, I can recall at least 3 shootouts Wellwood has taken and he undressed the goalies all 3 times. He doesn't come in fast and deke, he just goes in slow with patience. All hands.

If Pyatt gets waived, I'll be celebrating like that guy in Ch28's avatar. What's Pyatt's salary btw?

Harvey Specter 11-03-2008 01:42 AM

I sort of feel bad for Pyatt. He looks like he's trying his hardest but shit does the guy stink. I hope him the best if he is released or traded because he'll need a miracle to stay in the NHL the way he's playing.

Tim Budong 11-03-2008 01:51 AM

he did do something int he firt today behind the net
ahahah

iPee 11-03-2008 02:39 AM

I was wondering the same thing too if Wellwood would get sent down. Lets hope not.

On the other hand I saw several Red Wings on Saturday at the restaurant I work at.
Too bad couldn't get any pics it was pretty busy day.

I remember Datsyuk, Filppula, Holmstrom, Hossa, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom were there. Supposedly they go Tsunami Sushi quite a bit when they in town haha.

411ken 11-03-2008 07:11 AM

It's hard not to like detroit. they play hard and smart. canucks should watch videos of the wings when they are on the PP. Cuz they are on a whole different league even if they don't score, they create a lot of chances.

...which is all really interesting when you think about how Wellwood is called "lazy", since the most frustrating of all are the "lazy" penalties like hooking and such.

Why do sometimes on the PK, some teams play a small box and let the PP team pass around and shoot. While other times on the PK, they PK players are aggressive and go after whoever has the puck on the PP team?

I realized having Luongo as captain is not a good idea. With the minutes dying down and Canucks are down by one, they always need to go behind the net to get a prep talk from their Captain.

the defensive strategy relies heavily on the game situation AND the opposing teams offensive pp strategy. this is why teams study video of opposing teams, to learn their tendencies in certain and controlled situations. there's never going to be one single way of killing a penalty for any one team, because the scheme is correlated to the current situation.

lol, OR, he's just too lazy to do anything like even chase after them. Just a theory though. He's -8 in his career so far.

trdees 11-03-2008 09:41 AM

thats because he played for t he laffs

For sure, -8 isn't to bad. Rick Nash is a -63 and Kovalchuk is a -59. Although Wellwood isn't on their level I think we can all agree they are good players.

Noir 11-03-2008 10:35 AM

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Crosby/Semin saga. Is it because no one is butt-hurt over the attack of Crosby's hype, or is it just because nobody cares about Semin?

AzNightmare 11-03-2008 11:24 AM

Who's this seamen guy? His last name doesn't even sound Russian. wtf, I've never even heard of his name until he kicked Canucks ass a few weeks ago. Was he overshadowed by Ovechkin all this time or something? and btw, what's up with Ovechkin this season. Is he injured or just underperforming?

and to answer your question, from my point of view, I don't give a rats ass about Crosby because I think he's over hyped and over marketed, and I have no idea who this Semin guy is until this season when Caps played Canucks.
