and to answer your question, from my point of view, I don't give a rats ass about Crosby because I think he's over hyped and over marketed, and I have no idea who this Semin guy is until this season when Caps played Canucks.

AO is back in Russia. Dying grandfather I heard or I think in severe condition, I'm not sure. Anyways, family emergency nonetheless.

I don't think Semin's comments were that out too lunch. He wasn't hyping himself or Ovechkin, both extremely talented players.

In his example he used Patrick Kane I believe, so really, it wasn't a comment meant to stroke his own ego. But rather, a comment on the reality of the NHL and it's marketing campaign.

The more interesting story is Avery's antics in the Boston game. He boarded Lucic starting a brawl in the 3rd. Modano has since commented that the situation was one of the most embarassing of his career and if that's the way the Stars organization want to play, to give him an off-ice job. Yikes!!

Whoops, just realized I missed the second Puck Daddy article.
It was a pretty decent interview. I wouldn't exactly say he's cocky.
He's just very straight forward, and isn't afraid to say what he has to say and hide it behind humble-ness.

He get's props from me for putting Bure as #1, and saying the Americans are weak now. lol. And bashing the "dump and chase" is brilliant, because there's too many players that do that when there's no pressure and it makes me sick.

Oh, I thought he just missed a game or two. Didn't know he was missing a lot of games.

If Ouellette clears waivers, Krog most likely will be put on waivers to Manitoba. The games that he has played, he has been horrible. Too bad the Canucks have so many 1-way players.

It's hard not to like detroit. they play hard and smart. canucks should watch videos of the wings when they are on the PP. Cuz they are on a whole different league even if they don't score, they create a lot of chances.

Even if the nucks studied and watched the Wings PP, they'll NEVER be able to do it like them. They have big players who have soft hands and good shots. Does our PP 1 Line of the Sedins and Wellwood compare to theres? I think they have Datsyuk Hossa Holmstrom on the front and Zetterberg Lindstrom on the back end. I may be wrong about that, but you still cannot compare the two teams. Detroit is among the league elite which is why they won the cup last year. We didn't even make it to the playoffs.

Google is your friend. Semin was drafted in 2002 and was 13th overall. His first season with the Capitals was in 03-04 where he played 52 games and scored 10 goals and 12 assist.
06-07 was a great year for him as he netted 38 goals and 35 assist.
I wouldn't say he was overshadowed by Ovechkin, but he wasn't playing for the Capitals till the 06-07 season. Between 04-06 he was playing in the minors.

Did anyone watch Don Cherry calling out Ott and Avery Sat night?

punkwax 11-03-2008 03:58 PM

Grapes was praising Wellwood's play as well.

Wellwood gave the puck away a few times last night, but then he scored so all is good.

On the other hand I saw several Red Wings on Saturday at the restaurant I work at.
Too bad couldn't get any pics it was pretty busy day.

I remember Datsyuk, Filppula, Holmstrom, Hossa, Zetterberg, and Lidstrom were there. Supposedly they go Tsunami Sushi quite a bit when they in town haha.

ahh damn. i wanna get my jersey signed.

Here's what Cherry was going going on about....

I agree with everything Cherry said about Ott and Avery been little bitches. Even Mike Modano was embrassed...

Quote:

"Tonight, it was idiotic and stupid," Stars center Mike Modano said when asked what the team identity was. "It was one of the most embarrassing things I've seen. If that's what we're going for, then they need to find me an office job."

"It was dumb penalties, dumb situations, that's kind of been the trend all season," Modano said. "There's no mental toughness. We're allowing the refs to get involved in the game with and spending more energy on them than the details of winning the game."

keitaro 11-03-2008 09:06 PM

ott and avery were little douche bags skating around trying to really hurt someone. Props to the Bruins for standing up for each of their own team members.

iPee 11-03-2008 10:33 PM
