nucks always have good 3rd periods |
They've outscored the opponent something like 17 - 3 in the third period now |
Sorry guys but.... SUNDIN MEETS WITH DUCKS GM BURKE Free agent forward Mats Sundin met with Anaheim Ducks Brian Burke on Tuesday evening. The Ducks are one of several NHL clubs interested in the services of the 37-year-old. Sources tell TSN Burke expressed his interest in bringing Sundin into the fold and explained how competitively he believes the Ducks are a Stanley Cup contender. The informal meeting lasted for about one hour. Signing Sundin would likely mean the Ducks would likely need to shed salary as they remain up-against the NHL's salary cap. They dealt defenceman Mathieu Schneider to the Atlanta Thrashers in order to free-up space earlier this season. The Ottawa Senators, Vancouver Canucks, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadiens and potentially the Chicago Blackhawks are all interested in adding Sundin. Sundin had 32 goals and 46 assists with a plus-17 rating over his 74 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2008. |

Sure Sundin is a workhorse, and consistent, but I for one am sick of the wait. Make a choice goddammit and let everyone move on. We're holding 10 million open for a guy that can't even make up his mind Anyways, was at today's game, and I agree with everyone else here. Slow first period - wasn't really going anywhere. There were even a few low points where the Canucks were being outplayed. Refereeing was inconsistent today as well but I guess you can't do anything about that. Nice to see the victory and shut out, and I'm pleasantly surprised by Wellwood. Who would have though a guy we sent to the minors is the team leader in goals? :D 6 goals in 8 games - impressive! Hopefully he gets a lot more ice time to prove his worth. I noticed he had a nice long stretch of ice time at the end of the game. Perhaps AV was giving him a chance to net a hat trick? (which he was actually pretty close to getting) |
Well, finally got to go to my first Canucks game of the year, and what a doozy! Pretty good game by all involved... props to Lu on the goose-egg, he only faced 24 shots but he got a couple of stellar saves in too (batting that one out of the air was amazing). Heard some great points made on the post-game show... Daniel's goal, for one - he got down in the dirty areas, threw his body at the net to poke at the loose puck. Need more of that from both the Sedins: going to the net, getting the garbage goals. Wellwood is turning into something of a folk hero in this town - gets his name chanted when he scores, and got a HUGE ovation when he was announced the first star, easily twice the cheers that Louie got when he was announced second star for the SO. Good to hear the Captain take it in stride in his post-game interview :) Of course, Wellwood's unofficial nickname (at least on the call-in shows) is now "Well-fed" but as one caller tonight put it, he's the beer-leaguer's hero now :) Pretty good game to be at, overall, especially sitting in my friend's company's club seats :) Hmm, free dinner (courtesy a Cactus Club gift card), free parking (courtesy my brother-in-law by Tinseltown), and a free game (okay, I had to buy my friend a beer). Gotta like it! |
http://tsn.ca/story/?id=254758The Dallas Stars have added free agent forward Mark Parrish to their lineup. The two way deal will see the former 30 goal scorer earn $500,000 if he stays with the NHL club and $100,000 if he is sent to the AHL. He's expected to take a physical on Tuesday and could be in the Stars lineup Friday against Anaheim. "It's a deal that we think can work for us," Stars co-general manager Les Jackson tells the Dallas Morning News. "It's one we can afford, and one we think is worth trying." This summer, Parrish was bought out of the final three years of a five-year deal he signed with the Minnesota Wild back in 2006. He played 76 games in 2006-07 and tallied 19 goals and 20 assists for the Wild. Last season, injuries limited him 16 goals and 14 assists in just 66 games. There goes Gillis Back up plan as well !! |
lol who cares that Sundin is talking to Burke? Anaheim is gonna fuck themselves over bad if they think they can add Sundin's salary (assuming Sundin doesn't take a large paycut). |
is it just me or did it look like Arnott was way offside on that post in the 1st? Would have sucked to have the game turned like that.... |

LOL, this Sundin thing is going to turn into the biggest Vancouver snub in history... he's going to turn down $10 mill a year and play for $1 mill somewhere else hahaha....... I don't want him here, mess with our team chemistry. Also, cap is going to go down in the next few years thanks to the tanking economy, we need built-in cap space so signing Sundin for 2 years would make us lose Burrows and the Sedins and guys like Wellwood etc. |

Wellwood's first goal was right place at the right time - even my dad said he could've scored that one! :lol Second one was beautiful - I wish I had his hands! Quote:
When Demitra and Rypien come back, who's gonna get bumped? Pyatt? :D |

lol, I'm not a fan of Crosby or Semin, but some of the stuff Semin said about Crosby doesn't really make sense. I mean his first point described exactly what a good playmaker is. I don't know much about Kane so I can't compare. And it's true Crosby got over-hyped and promoted like crazy, but hell, even if you were under the radar, 100pts will make you a superstar automatically. |

Being at the right place at the right time seems like it's one of those things that people attribute to luck, but it's actually something that takes special skill and vision to see WHERE the right place is at the right time. |

I hope Gillis can sign Kesler and Burrows long term, but in the open market damn these guys can fetch 2-3.5 mill each easy! |
Can you believe it that Burrows doesn't even make 500,000? |

^ considering what he does compared to somone like Pyatt it's pretty digsuting.. GET PYATT OUT OF HERE!! FUCK i've watched every game this season, been to 2 and i can honestly say there is no player on the canucks that looks worse somone a few pages back said "i feel bad because at least it looks like he's trying hard" the thing is.. HE'S NOT! and if he is it's pretty fucking pathetic in his attempts, a perfect example is watching him skate into the offensive zone after a puck being thrown behind the net etc. he "looks" like he's trying, but he puts forward no attempt whatsoever to get his stick on the man, to play the body playing the puck behind the net, OR EVEN GO FOR THE DAMN PUCK! he skates up quickly with absolutely no confidence in stealing the puck, it looks like all hes attempting to do is put pressure on the player, who by the time he makes it to him, has already made a breakout pass and has put pyatt wayyy behind the play at his salary it's disgusting and he needs to go, and no, i dont be saying "ohhh pyatt is so great" if down the road he has a 2 goal game etc i've never liked pyatt from the beggining. |

He's a like a bloody henchman skating around doing absolutely nothing positive for his team. |
