I remember that moment like it was yesterday yelling at Auld to get up. My buddies are over and we're all sitting there yelling, Get UP! GET UP! as he lays there on his back then in comes Gelinas who fires it over top of a sprawling Auld and the rest is history.

Hondaracer 09-12-2008 10:57 AM

I was at that game 7, it was so insane but before the game even started i remember such a bad omen, when they were warming up and all the players were slowly leaving the ice there were 2 flames skaters still on, and Auld and 1 other canuck on their side, one of the flames shot a stray puck down at auld and it actually went right between his legs and in the net

i remeber seeing that before the official start of the game and i wish i hadnt lol

Tim Budong 09-12-2008 11:03 AM

that game7 was prob one of the best nucks games that i can clearly rmb
and damn, for cooke to screw it up and gave calgary the lead, than be the one who tied it up

that game, he earned my respect
hahahaha

not to mention majority of his goals last season were pretty highlight reel goals. i remember jim hughson saying after one of burrows goals " if we were to compile all of burrs goals this season and show it to a non hockey fan, that person will probably think burrows is a star player" i lol'ed when i heard that. when burrows played his first game, i knew something was up about this guy, my co-worker kept putting him down saying he's a useless bum. if only i still worked with him to throw this back in his face.lol i agree, he's got heart and determination, and the never give up attitude. he isn't letting it go to his head that he made it to the big show.

Ronin 09-12-2008 07:05 PM

Burrows is one of my favorite Canucks now. The guy NEVER takes a shift off. He works hard, gets dirty, shuts down, talks trash, kills penalties and 30 points isn't bad either for a guy like that. I'd say he's as good as some of the premier shutdown line guys in the league...maybe not quite Kris Draper, Kirk Maltby, Samuel Pahlsson or John Madden yet but he knows his role and does it well. You can't win a Cup anymore without a serious defense line and Burrows belongs on a line like that.

Low $1.Xm would be a good price for Burrows to stay.

Razor Ramon HG 09-12-2008 07:29 PM

Kesler and Burrows are the heart of this team now and I would honestly lose all faith in our management if either one was to leave the organization.

Hondaracer 09-12-2008 08:13 PM

Kesler and Burrows are pretty much the new "core" of this team

lol, and try to secure Sedins and Luongo, if they can. They should be making the team around them, and it should be good then.

I remember one game a couple years ago, he carried the puck down the right side of the slot, put it on net, the goalie stopped it, Burr too two more jabs at it as he was going PAST the net, and jammed it through on the third try, reaching from BEHIND the net.

Other players need to take a serious fucking lesson in work ethic from that kid.

who said core players are on ice performers?

Kesler has the skill to be a top liner, but to be considered "core" players doesnt exactly put offensive emphasis on them, they have bigger roles in support, attitude, presence, leadership

Linden only scored what, 6 goals last season? wouldnt u consider him "core"?

d1 09-12-2008 11:52 PM

Kesler and Burrows are the "core" of the Canucks after just one career season? I think not. Both of them are now an important part of the team but they are not the core.

Kesler has the skill to be a top liner?????????? if you posted that on any reputable hockey forum they'd think you're joking. He's a good checker and thats what he'll always be, a good 20 goal scoring checker. Oh and no I don't consider Linden a core player last year. He was scratched 20+ games. Guys that I consider core players would be Sedins, Luongo, Mitchell, Edler, Ohlund, Bieksa and Kesler. Core players in my eyes are players you build the team around. Everyone else is just surrounding pieces. If you take the twins or Luongo away from the Canucks you'd see a dramatic drop in the standings but if you took Kesler or Burrows off there would probably be a minimal drop off. Kesler is important to the team but hes a career Kris Draper type of player.

Yea I think that was the first year he got called up rite? At first I was like who is this Burrows kid. But after seeing him play some games that season I definitely fell in love with his work ethic. He would just give it his all and that goal was a good example of that.

Learn how to read. I was talking about the Linden who was scratched 20+ games not the Linden in his prime popping in 30 goals a season. Core players are CORE of a team not surrounding players like burrows or 38 year old 4th liners.

Real team leaders don't have to be the top scorers. Look at team captains like Chris Clark or Jason Smith. Great teammates, great leaders...their work ethic rubs off on the rest of the team and gives their teams a hardworking identity.

Look at Ryan Smyth too. The guy isn't the top scorer on his team...ever. But he's Captain Canada.

Now I know you're joking. If you don't think Kris Draper is a team leader, you must not know anything about hockey. If Nicklas Lidstrom wasn't on the Wings, I GUARANTEE the captain would be Draper.

People that base a player's entire worth on stats alone don't know anything about hockey.

AzNightmare 09-13-2008 03:17 AM

Let's just keep it at, guys should learn from Burrows work ethic. Not really worth debating here whether he's a core or not.

Kesler isn't a top liner anywhere except maybe on the Canucks, but even then, highly doubt he will surpass Daniel or even Demitra. He never will be a top liner in the league unless he miraculously gains this unseen talent. He's a great checker. He has good speed though, and maybe if he can keep playing better, and getting more goals, he can be a decent second liner on the Canucks lineup.

jlo mein 09-13-2008 03:41 AM

Is there an RS.net EASHL team for NHL09 on Xbox360? I want to play a lot to increase my created Pro attributes. I'm currently a defensive d-man.

after one season? where the fuck have u been bro, they've both been in the line up since 05, and have always had a roll on this team which has been upped every season, not only in responability but ice time and roll.

Clearly you dont even understand the phrase "core player" to many Cooke would have been considered a part of the core, and he was a much lesser player then the likes of burrows and kes.

Linden not a core player? are u KIDDING ME?! you sound like your basing your entire opinion on stats and nothing else like i said in the previous message Core is a way more then on ice performance, and if you think players like ohlund or edler have more important rolls then kes or bur your kidding yourself imo.

As for Kesler not being a top liner, have you guys not noticed he's the only one on this team that can actually skate? you do realize that both Datsuyk and Zetterberg were picked in the late hundreds? he has the ability to become a 2nd line center at the least imo, he can skate, shoot, and stickhandle better then most on our team and is still very young and very capable of progressing over the next few seasons.

Hi_Im_Mike 09-13-2008 11:30 AM

We've been through this before boys...Kesler and Burrows will stay 3rd liners because they get easier defencemens to go against. Which is why they can break away and score hi light goals...
