i'm sure you'll feel the same way when he becomes the next commisioner as well..

lol, chill out, nothing wrong with talking about hockey in a Canucks thread.

There's a link conveniently provided right in the post if you don't know who he is. He's known around the league, he's not bad, he has "point/game" potential. He only played 30-something games last season though, and now he's injured again.

And that's where you're wrong. The only significant move was trading for Pronger? Wow...

You're forgetting that after he was hired, Burke fleeced Columbus with the Fedorov trade. Not only did he dump about 6 million dollars of salary, he got Francois Beauchemin, one of their top defenceman. And speaking of defencemen, he signed Scott Niedermayer to a 6 year deal... Oh not to mention he got Selanne back on the team. And then he traded for Pronger....

But yeah, he doesn't deserve credit for doing any of that right? It only got them a Stanley Cup

You're a ducks fan right? How does someone living in Vancouver become a Ducks fan? I mean I can understand why people who don't live somewhere cheer for an original 6 franchise but they've only been around since the 90's. I'm not knocking just curious how that happens. :) Maybe you used to live in Anaheim? I don't know.

Did anyone catch Gilles' plan B on Team1040 tonight? I missed it, but Cole's notes is that his plan B is the pool of prospects the Canucks have. The same prospects he took a shot at during his first press conference.

When I was a kid I wasn't the biggest hockey fan, but once '94 rolled around and I saw how crazy it got just because of the Canucks, I started to pay a little more attention. I liked the Ducks when I was younger because I thought the logo was so badass, and when I got older I liked them because of Selanne and Kariya (especially when I found out he was from North Van). I'd always watch them on TV when they played the Canucks and read up about scores and players etc on the internet when I couldn't watch. They just sort of gradually became "my team", and when 2003 came and they made it to the finals, there was no looking back.

The Canucks are my #2 team, as I do believe in supporting your local franchises, but there's just that something about my Ducks. I love'em enough to wear a Pronger jersey in GM Place, and mouth people off haha.

Disney Franchise has enough money. Cheer for a team that wasn't formed out of V Power.

I kid I kid.

6thGear. 09-17-2008 11:04 PM

disney doesnt own the ducks anymore

Selanne_200 09-17-2008 11:39 PM

I'm with the hype on this one. A ducks fan myself, I think it was around 98 or 99 when i started paying attention to the ducks and the line of kariya - rucchin - selanne with hebert in net just caught my attention, I don't know why but been a fan since!

mickz 09-18-2008 12:21 AM

lol I admit I was a Ducks fan when I was little too. When they were led by Charlie Conway.

Harvey Specter 09-18-2008 02:20 AM

The Ducks owner is pretty crooked but what'd you expect from the part owner of Broadcom.

Totally gave Burke props for the Federov trade. He actually found somebody dumb enough to take on his contract which freed up mad cap space and in return got Beauchemin has been sick for them.

I will however not give him props for the Scott Niedermayer signing. Had Anaheim not had his brother on the team no way in hell that deal would of been done.

This just always reminds me of that scene from Space Jam...

Daffy: I know, we'll call our team The Ducks!
Bugs: What kind of mickey-mouse organization would name a team The Ducks?

stuff99 09-18-2008 08:19 AM

Neids signed as a free agent and not via trade

AzNightmare 09-18-2008 09:04 AM
