Drury won't play in Canada. He wants to stay in the US.

We don't really need Gomez right now because he's a playmaker. He'd be good if we still had Naslund around because he could have possibly helped him get his scoring touch back. We're really lacking a lot of finishers right now and our main priority is a center that can SCORE.

the_rickster 08-28-2008 11:24 AM

cooch, they're $1.3m over. that's not too bad.

philly, washington, chicago and even calgary are in worse positions.

AzNightmare 08-28-2008 11:28 AM

So Henrik is Canucks' #1 centremen for next year I guess?

would gomez be able to play with demitra?

the_rickster 08-28-2008 11:34 AM

i keep forgetting that we got demitra.

Demitra + Wellwood can play center but Demitra has always said he plays much better on the wing and his point totals show that

AzNightmare 08-28-2008 12:01 PM

I meant with Gomez being a playmaker, we have Demitra to replace Naslund.
So wouldn't Gomez be a good fit, maybe? Demitra gets to shine as a winger with a
good centreman.

Demitra has always been a playmaker

AzNightmare 08-28-2008 02:42 PM

oh, he's a winger that's a playmaker? That can't be too great then... =/
who's he supposed to pass to?

raygunpk 08-28-2008 02:53 PM

Kyle Wellwood. hahahahah

Ch28 08-28-2008 02:59 PM

Meszaros just signed a $5m/season offer sheet from a team that is TBA.

I hope it goes through! Ottawa would be crazy desperate for an offensive d-man and it could be the perfect time for Vancouver to offer up a guy like Bieksa.

Harvey Specter 08-28-2008 03:02 PM

I would love to see Bieksa go after the lackluster season he just had but I think most teams will be asking for Bieksa + another player or draft pick.

Rumour was it we could have had Eric Cole for Bieksa straight up but Gillis wouldn't do it. We really have no one to replace him if we trade him for a forward.

bieksa didn't have a lackluster year, he had a major injury. THEN came back in pre season form when every other player was in mid season form. it's not like he broke his wrist or something... he lacerated his fucking calf, you can't keep your legs, speed and timing in top shape while that magically repairs itself.

He wasn't playing good before his injury! Do you not remember the crowd boo'ing him?

Razor Ramon HG 08-28-2008 04:53 PM

No matter what happened last season, Bieksa still has tremendous pressure to return to his 06/07 season form, and he has the potential to do so. That's why a young defenseman such as Bieksa is considered a good addition to any blueline.

P.S. Has anyone seen Sanford's top 10 pick of masks? The one made by Darcy looks crazy.

Bobby should definitely win this competition. Hands down the best one on there.

Soundy 08-28-2008 06:09 PM

I rather liked Paulo's.

trip 08-28-2008 08:01 PM

WOW those are some sick creations, a 6 yr old made a pretty nice one too

Grandmaster TSE 08-28-2008 11:58 PM

darcy's is pretty fucking sweet

AzNightmare 08-29-2008 08:36 AM

To be honest, I didn't find many of them attractive.
I'll probably change my mind if I see the designs on an actual helmet.
lol, some of them are just done in pencil or something, and wasn't even
on the mask template provided.

quasi 08-29-2008 12:34 PM

I think it would be awesome if they used one of the ones done in crayon and painted it to look that way.

Ch28 08-29-2008 03:06 PM

The Ottawa Senators have traded defenceman Andrej Meszaros to the Tampa Bay Lightning for defencemen Filip Kuba, Alexandre Picard and a first round pick (previously acquired from San Jose).

Meszaros, 22, had 36 points and a plus-5 rating in 82 games for the Senators in 2007-2008, but has been locked in a contract dispute as a restricted free agent.
