anyone ever had any bad experiences with red ink? i just got some red ink done and my forearm and it swelled up really bad with a slight discharge. i thought it was an infection but later found out that it was an allergic reaction to the red ink.

btw does anyone know where to get A + D ointment? ive checked several places and couldnt find any

Fafine 06-03-2012 03:55 PM

my whole hanya mask is red,
healed differently than black
my arm swelled up too even with black
and ya the red discharged a bit when i slept
when'd you get it done?

dlo 06-03-2012 04:26 PM

yeah red doesnt heal well with me lol iunno whats with it but its never smooth and take longer to heal :\

AutozamAZ-3 06-03-2012 04:26 PM

i got it done on wednesday but the piece is still not done. how long did your swelling last? is it safe to go back and get more red ink after the swelling is over?

you guys got any suggestions as to what kind of ointments i could put on the red areas? whenever i put any type of lotion, it irritates the skin and causes a discharge to come out

phantom x 06-03-2012 04:43 PM

almost anyone i know has had a reaction to red, next time ask you'r artist to try another brand of red if you must use red, as for A n D , lubridurm has a line with the A n D in it ,i'v seen it @superstore.. aquaphor is one of the best , but is costly... keep washing it and let it dry out for a day or two then go back to useing lotion.

another trick is to keep your lotion in the fridge , so when you put it on it's cold and helps with the swelling, feels so good!!

put up some pics!... if you think it's infected then see your doc right away.

dlo 06-03-2012 04:52 PM

lubridurm fucking stings for me lol, i use glaxal base moisturing cream and i live by it... recommend it to all my friend and so far no problems :D

Fafine 06-03-2012 04:58 PM

red took a few days longer to heal then the black color but its just smooth as the rest of the tattoo

swelling lasted almost a week?
you haven't used any ointments on your tattoos so far?
is it scabbing?

if you dont have any aquaphor hit up superstore, ask the pharmacist for it, big jar for like 12bucks

for myself, after the first wash of the tattoo, pat dry wait 10mins for it to dry completely. then put some aquaphor on. I do this twice a day once when i wake up and again before i sleep.
after a few days it starts to peel then i stop usng aquaphor and use moisturizer like lubriderm, feels good when i put it on.

and yeah post a pic, you mentioned that you got it done by jay right?

SkinnyPupp 06-03-2012 08:17 PM

I wouldn't use anything that stings :heckno:

Oronine is what they use in japan, and I love it. Soothes, protects, and heals FAST

I have two with red ink, one that has only a slight amount and the other is strictly black and red. I didn't notice any difference in the healing with the red portions. But during the healing, I only used lubriderm unscented lotion.

or here
Let me google that for you

SkinnyPupp 06-05-2012 07:15 PM

The artists listed in the FAQ are among the best in the city, but I don't know how interested they would be in doing chinese characters... google might be a better option, or to walk to the shops yourself.

Just thought I'd post up this dope Phoenix my artist did.

Going to my first laser tattoo removal consultation today. Got a whole back piece to be lightened so it can be covered. Should be fun.

is 5 years the average fading time before you need to go for touch ups?

There is no average fading time. How your tattoo lasts the test of time depends on how well it was applied by the artist, how well you took care of it during the healing time, and how much sun exposure the tattoo has gotten over the years.

I'm not out there every summer tanning and keep most of my work covered up. I have pieces that are 12 years old that do not need touch ups.

Getting a couple more hours on the ribs done on Wednesday, love when my artist gets cancellations!

got recommended from xilley to get some work done by a guy named "Ah Mo" from Taiwan. Went to his place to check out his work and got to see him working on another guy that was there. I personally really liked his style and decided to go ahead :p
Here's a lil teaser, post more pics later

westopher 06-13-2012 09:44 PM

More work on my chest tomorrow. I really don't feel like it right now, but oh well.

VR6GTI 06-14-2012 07:47 AM

so ive had 5 sessions and 2 different tattoo's by the same artist. In 5 sessions hes canceled on me twice, i have an outline started by him and now im thinking about changing artists. Only problem is from what i hear is that artists don't usually like to finish other peoples work. Do i finish the tattoo with him or find another artist?
