i have a no friend or associates in the work place policy. I'd ex that friend and straight up tell the hiring manager that he did not consult with you regarding the reference, that's irresponsible and disrespectful. also i'd tell the hiring manager not to hire the person and never talk about it again.
i don't like anyone knowing about my business at work. if im sick or if i perform poorly at work, or personal issues arrise it's between myself and the employer. last thing i want is some friend or mutual friend discussing it within my circle.

Woah, what a coincidence.......
Except I gave my friend the OK to apply at my company with my referral and I also mentioned what his salary could be, and he seemed pretty set on getting in.
I offered him another potential job, but he declined it due to the salary being $?K lower, but I did tell him that it would have given him the experience to "catch up."
Fast forward, HR+co tells me they would have trashed his resume if it wasn't for my referral lululul. I can't reveal more but yeah  | |

China has banned VPNs and they do not work in the country.
The best way to get uncensored internet access in the country is to setup your own proxy before you leave.
Well, the best way that I know of.

2018 Valentine's achievement unlocked. Called in sick today. Got some shit done in the morning. Then, I went to get flowers for my wife, and swooped in when there wasn't a line up at the store. I took her to Fort Langley and had lunch at Wendel's, and then the Little White house and bakery for dessert. Wife is happy. I'm glad that it didn't take much effort, and avoided the clusterfuck with everyone else competing for the same resources

Sounds like you are fresh out of school. You still have the mentality that school (high school achievements even) matters in real life. You have a long way ahead. The sooner you exit the mentality that getting great grades in high school matter the faster you will spot what really matter in terms of moving up in life.
