Cheapest alternative is to take the bus.

I do believe ICBC will not cover you in the event of an accident if you are only running 2 snow tires because of the difference in traction levels from the tires with vs the tires w/o snow tires.

Cables/chains are good to get going, but there are some limitations to them. And if you unfortunately snap them, you can potentially damage your car Homer Simpon with the wheel boot style.

A friend of mine who lives near Queenborough Landing says he has 18-24 inches of snow on the roof of his house.

He's starting to worry his roof might cave in.

Chains are a good investment during winter but the downside is they are kind of complicated to set up and you can't drive over 30km/h when you have them on or else they will just unravel and you can imagine what happens next. On the other hand, you probably won't get stuck anywhere hahah

I was thinking of getting these auto sock things... it's a cloth thing that goes over your tires.

Epic except he messed up the description to 8000. Lol.

You do realize that with this much snow all that rain is going to do is weigh down the snow that's already here and create more ice and chaos, yes?

Time to worry.

had cables last year. got them for a birthday present. they were freakin awesome...for about 5 minutes. after which they'd need to be removed again as i hit a plowed street.
they did work great, but really aren't practical at all in vancouver.
