It's coming down really hard up on SFU.
I saw lots of cars stuck in the snow banks as they drove with their all-season tires. Fools.

jasonturbo 12-26-2008 11:56 AM

Wow this is unreal....

North Van.. coming up the big hill on mountain high way was a crawl in the rental car I have... a crawl.....

lilaznviper 12-26-2008 12:51 PM

good driving habits > winter tires
don't know why people are complaining so much. i've got my all seasons on and have been getting around fine. haven't even really been avoiding going out either. sure, i've gotten stuck a couple times. but that will happen in this weather regardless of your choice in tires

I disagree . It is not about getting stuck or not. It is about stopping distance; driving in all season tires will not only add risk to your self, but it will also add danger to difficulty for others on the road.

Good driving habits + winter tires > good driving habits > winter tires

IMASA 12-26-2008 02:09 PM

It's cool how ppl driving with all seasons brag about how they can make it fine without winters, but what they don't say is that they're the fucktards going 10km/h when there's 2cm of snow on the ground.

Just got back to Pitt Meadows from the 'rents house in Coquitlam. It's nuts again! Yesterday the streets (most of them) were plowed, and with it being warmer, they were bare and wet through the day.

Now it's back to square one again. It's times like this I really wish I had a snowmobile! :D

Sure. They were in my way and I had to help them push their cars out.

funny you said that. the people living behind me pulled their snowmobile out of their garage to help move some of the cars that have been stranded in the back lane for the last few days... a tow truck did try 2 days back but almost got stuck as well and abandoned everyone.

+1

I have been okay in my all seasons just generally driving with a brain although I've had to try and avoid smaller streets with hill.s =p That said, I have winter tires coming soon. =]

tonyvu 12-26-2008 02:53 PM

*puff puff*

SumAznGuy 12-26-2008 02:57 PM

rubencruz 12-26-2008 02:58 PM

hey just wondering its kinda of topic.. but im plannin to get cable chains for my tires and im runnign on all seasons.. would that make any difference at all? or am i better of with just a 2 snow tires? im trying to find the cheapest alternative

Harvey Specter 12-26-2008 03:00 PM

Heavy rain is on its way....gotta love Vancouvers wacky weather.

HondaGuy 12-26-2008 03:01 PM

Just let everyone know that Canadian Tire on Cambie/7th has supplies of winter tires, ranging from 13,14,15,16 in sizes available. From Hankook, Nordics, Generals...
Different sizes available.

Some are odd sizes, like 215.70.14...

Its all tossed around, some stacked...and some are all 4, some are 2 or 3 left over...

Just in case anyone needs some...

Good Luck, drive safe.

hotjoint 12-26-2008 03:02 PM
