This Craptors and Spurs trade is a very risky trade for T.O.

It is no secret that KL wants to play with the Lakers next year. He has no intention to sign a long term deal with Toronto.

This is a dumbass trade by GM Ujiri. The Craptors make a crappy trade. :lawl:

The Spurs are laughing with this deal.

Spoon 07-18-2018 07:40 AM

Glad the Spurs culture will live on. DeRozan looks coachable, and now he's got a Hall of Fame bound coach to enhance his career. Only downside is he's going West, but at least he'll have a better chance at beating Lebron with this team. LUL

whitev70r 07-18-2018 07:49 AM

DeRozan's loyalty and love for TO is great to see. Character person all around.

Eventually, he will see what playing in SA and for Pops will be like so I'm happy for him that he landed in a real good place. And yes, pretty risky gamble for TO for a one year rental. Heard some commentator say that if they cannot get him to re-sign, will flip Leonard for picks at the trade deadline to a contender and start massive rebuild.

Mike Oxbig 07-18-2018 08:55 AM

can we flip him for Markelle Fultz and Dario Saric now?

Euro7r 07-18-2018 10:43 AM

Don't know what the fuck the stupid Craptors are doing...

Trade away their franchise player that's committed to playing for the team. Yes, they've lost to James to the playoffs the past few seasons, but with James gone to West. Their chances to reaching NBA Finals this upcoming season just got a whole hella lot better. To me, why mess up the team chemistry.

Leonard doesn't even want to play for Toronto, so his commitment is questionable. All in all, they just got rid of DeRozan for nothing I feel.

Spoon 07-18-2018 10:57 AM

Who knows what Leonard is thinking. But from the public's perception, he's a low key guy that just wants to ball. So Toronto might end up being a good fit for him since they never get any US media coverage; albeit being first in the East. The biggest question is still his health.

All hell will break loose if he doesn't sign with the Raptors though. They have enough problems getting stars as it is.

Nlkko 07-18-2018 11:49 AM

Raptors betrayed their best player, but hoping somehow another disgruntled player who felt betrayed by the previous org would stay with them. There are other ways to get rid of cap space without blowing up the bridges. It's a small league.

dachinesedude 07-18-2018 12:02 PM

They gave up derozen AND a first round pick for a one year rental, yikes

whitev70r 07-18-2018 12:14 PM

All the commentators are saying it was a risk worth taking for the Raptors. I'm beginning to agree.

Mike Oxbig 07-18-2018 03:53 PM

Danny green is underrated. Alone he’s worth potelt and top 20 pick protected

rice cooker 07-18-2018 04:29 PM

lol kawhi is not even gonna play for the raptors. hope TO gets somthing good when ship him to LA

LA, Philly, Boston didn't give the Spurs worth shit now. Good luck getting back jack 6-7 months from now. Lol "getting back picks". From who?

Toronto was top seed in the East last year, not sure why it'd be "worth it" to snake on DeRozan like that.

whitev70r 07-18-2018 07:20 PM

Now LeBron has no one to make a super team with ... except of course Lonzo Ball and his father .. BrokeBack

highfive 07-18-2018 09:51 PM

^ you forgot the best undrafted player outside of the Nba. GELO BALL!

Obsideon 07-18-2018 10:32 PM

My knee-jerk reaction was also "wtf was Toronto thinking" but after reading various articles, listening to a couple NBA podcast discussions. It makes a lot more sense why the Raptors did what they did.

They will always be a very good 2nd tier squad the way they were. A deep bench that got them to 59-wins in the regular season. But when the leash is tightened in the playoffs they couldn't hack it. Swept by Lebron. Celtics pushed Lebron to 7 without 2 all-stars. Where does that put the Raps?

They had a chance to acquire a top-5 player in the league so they went all in. Now they have a year to convince him to stay (ala Paul George), if he does stay it will be a HUGE coup for Toronto. If he leaves, meh you rebuild.
They barely had to give up any high prospects for Kawhi. A late-late 1st rounder and "serviceable" big in Poetl (last I read he's like 5th on the depth chart). They still have a strong collection of young players coming up. Derozan is talented for sure but he is and never will be a superstar 2-way game changer the likes of Kawhi, Lebron, Anthony Davis, etc.
IMO Danny Green is an even better fit than Derozan the way the team is now. He's the perfect catch and shoot 3pt specialist and one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.
If Ibaka can play the way he did in OKC, they have a very strong core that can contend for the East in the playoffs.
Lowry
Green
Kawhi
Ibaka
JV (too bad they didn't get DeAndre Jordan)

Obsideon 07-18-2018 10:38 PM

Of course on a personal level, what Toronto did was bad. They already had trouble pulling in star talent as it is, when they have an all-star who loves the city and wants to stay they shipped him out lol ... but it's not everyday a superstar is available for cheap.
The Celtics did the same thing, fan favourite Isaiah Thomas played his heart out for Boston, even playing through injury (which likely cost him millions cuz now he got signed for peanuts from last years disastrous performance) but Kyrie became available so the Celtics pounced.

Nlkko 07-18-2018 11:15 PM

They told him he will not be traded a few days ago guy. That's a snake way of doing business.

Like I said, good luck convince a dude who got run out of town to stay, who also told you he doesn't want to play for you, after you stab the other dude in the back. Can't compare this shit to PG.

pastarocket 07-19-2018 08:47 PM

Melo is going to be bought out by ATL as a result of a three team trade. Is Melo joining CP3?

Euro7r 07-19-2018 08:57 PM

Whomever signs Melo is already financially dumb.

He's a garbage player that's overpaid. Didn't do jack in NY and OKC.

Melo's getting paid his $28M by the Hawks' buyout so other teams can offer the min and he'll probably accept

Nlkko 07-19-2018 09:30 PM

Fat Melo can be signed for vet min.

But why would you want that trash on your team. He wants to start heavy minutes at OKC. Toxic POS.

whitev70r 07-20-2018 11:40 AM

Uriji presser - apologized to Derozan. You can tell that it really affected Masai emotionally to trade Derozan but he did what he thought would be best for the Raptors. Don't blame him. Chances like this don't grow on trees.

His reply

Derozan gets to play in a great franchise with a great coach. Not like Uriji sent him to some hole like Atlanta or Memphis. Just think, you got traded for Kawhi Leonard ...

Obsideon 07-20-2018 06:21 PM

Demar is mad salty lol ...

highfive 07-23-2018 10:04 PM

Melo signing with rockets and odds for them to win next season drops lol

Nlkko 07-28-2018 11:18 AM

Good luck attracting and retaining current marquee agents after guys watch this.

Snake in Denver, snake in TO. Snake gon' snake. I give this snake 1-2 year top.
