from Pierre LeBrun of ESPN,

Quote:

Now we find out if the Flyers can do what the Sharks could not: Turn it up one more notch and not be satisfied with saying they’re in every game despite not winning them. That’s not good enough.

“These guys don’t know the meaning of the word quit,” Flyers owner Ed Snider told ESPN.com on Tuesday. “Even in [Monday] night’s game in the third period, the goalie for Chicago did a great job, but it just showed that we were prepared to come back in that game. We did fall short, but in their building, we outshot them 15-4 in the third period. I think that says a lot.”

On Wednesday night at what should be an electric Wachovia Center, we’ll find out if these never-say-die Flyers can find one more gear to what has already been a decent effort so far in these Cup finals. We wouldn’t be the slightest bit surprised if they do. Talk to observers who have been around this Flyers team, including our own ESPN.com columnist Scott Burnside, and they will tell you how amazed they are by Philadelphia’s competitive spirit.

Cory Schneider has been resigned by the Canucks this morning. Further player/prospect announcements expected today as well.

NICE, good news on Schneider. I was concerned he may not have opted to re-sign coz of Luongo.

I like it. I am happy to have Rodin signed up.. Great pick for a 50 something overall) IMO.

Nucks sign Peter Andersson. Nice to see a big D.

Andersson, 19, spent the 2009-10 season with Vastra Frolunda HC Goteborg. In 21 games, the 6’3”, 194 pound defenceman recorded five points (1-4-5) and four penalty minutes. Andersson was a member of team Sweden’s 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship team, capturing a bronze medal.

Great. Now let's do something with this guy.

411ken 06-02-2010 11:21 AM

I was hoping to find out how many yrs they signed him for. But I'm pretty sure he'll be the back up next year..

Ch28 06-02-2010 11:27 AM

TSNBobMcKenzie
Cory Schneider's deal is two years at $900K per year

raygunpk 06-02-2010 11:28 AM

perfect

MR_BIGGS 06-02-2010 11:35 AM

An ideal situation in my opinion would see Luongo play no more than 60 regular season games....give the rest to Schneider. Have Lu fresh for the playoffs. He's succeeded when he's not overworked.

Put Schneider in for 20 games, see what he can do. Put pressure on Luongo to play well.

You can kind of see the steps of Gillis' long term plan...

First couple years he's been here:
1) See who the core players are, and get them signed long term.
2) He's tried to surround these core players with role players, but I think he realizes they need veteran guys who have been to the big dance, so I think he will address this in the summer.
3) Obviously he's creating depth on the D Line....with all the signings...

Should be an interesting summer. Can't wait!

If not fresh, at least not spread too thin.

Brian Burke says he's looking for a winger who can score and secondary toughness in any trade involving Kaberle.

Cue all the Mason Raymond for Kaberle rumours :lol

Harvey Specter 06-02-2010 02:19 PM

$900K isn't bad at all.

orange7 06-02-2010 02:34 PM

soo is it safe to say corey schneider will be playing for the canucks as a backup goalie?

900k per year is a good deal for a backup.

less than 500k a year is a killer deal.

it's 900k per year actually.

And its a one way contract so yes he will be the canucks backup next season unless he gets traded.
