The prob front loaded it so the cap hit is actually 4.5 a season. Posted via RS Mobile |
time to buy a Kesler jersey .. lol |
Last night, the crowd cheered the loudest for Johnson's goal. :D |
I'm just happy a bought my kesler jersey last year. I was starting to get worried lol Posted via RS Mobile |
$4.91 mil per year cap hit. Heres to a drunken Kes stumbling down Yaletown celebrating tonight! lol |
Our long term signed core is now amongst the strongest in the league very optimistic time for nuck fans, great news! Posted via RS Mobile |
I doubt this will be a front loaded contract but we'll see... I doubt Kes would want to make 2 million or so for the last year of his contract when he'll be just 29 or soemthing lol |

How much do you think he would've got in the open market? Did he take the price cut as he suggested last year? |

Calling out Burrows, Sedins and Luongo and saying "we" need to take paycuts to have a competitive team for years to come. |
That is a paycut. Posted via RS Mobile |
he is still an American :p |

Having Kesler is for 5 million a season is a steal. This guy could easily fetch about 6.5 a season on the open market. He wears his heart on his sleeve, a great checker and penalty killer, and the past two seasons has showed that he is an offensive force. There is absolutely no situation where Kesler cannot play in. I would be very surprised if he doesn't win the Selke this year. |

I'm a huge Kesler fan, the guy ups his game every year, and especiaLly this year. One of the top US players in the olympics not named Ryam Miller. And his play post olympics has been even better. Here's the catch, 5mil ia a little too much too early. And 6years is a long time to swallow. Its one of those risk contracts for a 'just proven' player. I do believe the pay is what he's worth, but I think its a little too early for 5mil. This season tho, Ryan Kesler has truely broken away from the dirty3american center group of Joe Pavalski and David Backes Posted via RS Mobile |
I don't think that's a paycut.. I would compare him to guys like Pavelski, Bobby Ryan, Bourque... all who are all making way less than that... Just like Sedins, I think they just signed for market value.. |
I'm happy with the signing. He does a lot of things that don't get on the stat sheet. We have the Sedins, Lu, Kesler, Borrows long term. We have a lot of money in net and the forward line. Hopefully we can address D in the off season, because I think this may be Willie's last season as a Canuck. |
I'm just happy we got him locked down long term. But yeah, I don't really see it as a big paycut. It's true... He could get more elsewhere, but no one's gonna look at this contract and think, "What?! Only?!" When Burrows signed, everyone probably thought, "What? Only?!" That's a paycut. |

Kesler brings so many intangibles other than his play he is well worth it like me and a friend were saying like 30 games ago, at this point in his career I wouldn't trade kesler for kovulchuck, he has the heart and determination you want in your upper echelon players and he's also the type of guy who never takes a game off, players like these are invaluable And saying this is too much too early is kinda stupid IMO because a contract like this was the only way to keep him long term at a reasonable rate, if we had signed him to a 2 year deal and he continued to progress at the rate he is there is no way your getting him for 5 at the end of that contract Posted via RS Mobile |
