LOL anyone here taking robotics and automation? That shit was INTENSE! The workload was insane and there was is so much pressure on exams because you'd be screwed so bad if you failed a course because it would delay your graduation by atleast a year and the tuition for individual courses are much higher.

I tell you, if you can survive that program, you can survive anything the real world throws at you.

Theres like 12 ppl in eletctronics now that gradded from
Robotics cause they said there's zero jobs available in the real world

Same thing happened to me, with my first career (CNC machining).

Yea, I loved going to school for 3 years, paying over 6k for schooling, books and tools then getting stuck at a dead end jobs with no room for advancement.

Thanks BCIT for letting me know theirs hardly any work available in that trade.

Hondaracer 02-22-2011 06:58 PM

the teachers told me straight up there were no jobs in robotics when i first went to my first info session in like 2005 or 2006, forget

it was probably a very cool/worthwhile experience regardless, the program looked awsome from what i saw at that time

anyone on an inter-mural hockey team?

Actually I have a classmate in my class that had robotics background but came back to school for electrical eng. I wonder if robotics is really that bad?

hondaracer, you are in electrical eng too?

Hondaracer 02-22-2011 08:05 PM

nah, Electronics Technician

LOL, it's actually sort of true. I worked as an industrial robot programmer, and a few of my friends worked in PLC's and installing CNC machines, but the rest of them were doing assembly work, and another guy was a lifeguard :s But you have to think smart in finding ways to get a job because the problem is that the program is so generic that it doesn't exactly fit into a specific job category.

But however, if you get an engineering degree at a credited university on top of your BCIT diploma, it WILL give you a huge stepping stone.

Nope. Been parking there all the time, never got any ticket from them.

604CRX 02-23-2011 09:11 AM

Anyone know where any free parking is close to NE1? I've been tempted to park in the complex at the end of Beta, but nobody else is around at 6:30AM and I don't want my car to stand out too much.
