Got an 'update' email from Blackberry this morning.

Hi Spoon_Fed

Here is an update regarding your recent ShopBlackBerry order (XXXXXXXX). We have been shipping many thousands of orders out each day and we are quickly working our way through the tremendous back log that was created as a result of the incredible PlayBook promotion. Rest assured that we do have inventory allocated for all of the orders placed during this promotion.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for the delay. We are also working feverishly to make sure we respond to all of your emails and calls. We realize there has been some difficulty getting through to customer service and we have made improvements by adding phone lines and agents and we will continue to do so until you receive the exceptional service you deserve. Currently the most efficient way to receive a response is by emailing orders@shopblackberry.com.

As a reminder, you will receive a ship confirmation email once your order has been processed. Once again, thank you for your order and we do apologize for the inconvenience.

Best Regards,
ShopBlackBerry Customer Service
a GlobalWare Solutions Inc. Store

So they sent me an email to tell me they're busy? :D Something is better than nothing I guess. Still boggles my mind that some people (not just people here, other friends are expeirencing the same thing) who ordered very early, still haven't had their playbooks shipped. Where some people, who ordered a few days ago, already have theirs in the mail... sigh.

TypeRNammer 12-03-2011 11:56 AM

That's the same generic email that people have been receiving.

Ya'll should've just ordered from Staples, placed an order and got it the next day.

Staples is always the last resort.

Used mine for a while with my 9780, decided to sell it cause it was just simply a novelty. Regardless I love the form factor and physical build.

Dingleberry is scheduled for release today

Nabatron 12-05-2011 11:43 AM

what is dingleberry anyways?

Firmware 12-05-2011 11:52 AM

Quote:

Rooting: Gaining access to core features within the operating systems which may or may
not be accessible publicly. Jailbreaking/rooting are effectively the same thing.

For example, the LED colours on the PlayBook (Note, this is just an example and much more complicated things can be achieved.).

Unlocking the bootloader: Gaining access to the part of the device that starts to operating system. In this case, QNX, in Androids case, Android. When the bootloader is accessed, new operating systems may be installed.

Although unlocking the bootloader is a great thing, the chances of this happening to the playbook are slim (but it is possible), and if it did, it may take a long while to get an alternative operating system into a state where it will work properly with the PlayBook's hardware.

Hope this has cleared some of it up for you all.

Message to people claiming that users will moan to RIM when our devices go wrong:

Only retards who have no idea that what they're doing is against RIMs preferences will complain if something goes wrong.

Anyway, peace!

Regards,
Crwblyth

RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook is already massively discounted – if you know a RIM employee you can score this tablet for as low as $99, however, for the vast majority of us the pricing now starts at $199 for the 16GB version. Rogers has put together a promo that honours the 199 rate, plus also gives an additional $20 off, taking it to a starting point of $179.99. In addition, they have treated the PlayBook accessories the same as the tablet by cutting the prices. For those interested you can get up to 65% off select BlackBerry PlayBook accessories. No indication of which accessories are discounted, only that the Premium Charger is excluded.
