does anyone taking a preworkout that contains creatine in it...as well as creatine post workout?is that fine?or is it too much that ur body wont absorb it?

dlo 09-19-2011 06:38 PM

^ my friend is taking c4 as a preworkout that contains creatine

SkinnyPupp 09-19-2011 07:33 PM

So what is everyone here doing for post workout? I used to think you needed to take those 'insulin spiking' drinks PWO, with aminos or whey hydrolysate, but I no longer think that way. Although I do think it helps recover faster, based on my experience when NOT taking them, I also think they make you fat (if you have a body type like mine)

Right now I am using the free bottle of ON "Hydro Builder" which is marketed as a PWO. Basically it's just a protein blend (whey, casein, egg) with a bunch of crap added to it (creatine, betaine for some reason, aminos, enzymes)

Since I am cutting weight, I don't want to do that 'insulin spike'. But it definitely feels like I recover slower. Maybe I'll get used to it.

What is everyone else doing for PWO?

Tegra_Devil 09-20-2011 12:19 PM

PWO....protein shake, Purple-k, animal nitro.

Supafly 09-20-2011 12:42 PM

postWO...i have a protein shake and a shitload of food....flaxseed bread, eggs, chicken, cheese ...whatever is infront of me; I'll eat.

Anyone here tried nutrabolic's isogainer?

is it any good?

SkinnyPupp 09-21-2011 09:03 PM

Anyone know of a good BLEND protein powder? Aside from that protein custom mix store. Something like Casein > Egg > Milk > Whey in that order (or at least with Whey at the end).

Muscle Milk possibly qualifies, but while it tastes damn good, it is crap for ingredients (lots of sugar, maltodextrin, garbage plant oils)

RacePace 09-21-2011 09:06 PM

Atlarge Nutrition, probably one of the original blended protein powders. They taste fantastic, trust me
AtLarge Nutrition - Bodybuilding & Fitness Supplements

Seem to have a sale going on right now too, input "fallcoming" for 15% off

SkinnyPupp 09-21-2011 09:10 PM

If mean mean their "Nitrean" that's way too much whey

Thx tho

Gotta watch for 'ingredient splitting'. It's a common thing in pet food, but you actually see it in protein supplements a lot.

By taking basic "whey" and splitting it into three different types (isolate, concentrate, hydrolysate) what they are doing is making it look like there is more other ingredients than there really are. But really, it's probably 80-90% whey, with a bit of casein, and a tiny bit of egg.

An even stronger example of this is ON "Hydro Builder" which splits it TWICE

SkinnyPupp 09-21-2011 09:21 PM

This one looks good, you can see what an un-split protein blend looks like, where they specifically say it is 80/20 casein/whey

It still has the issue of containing more sunflower oil than MCT oil (they never specify what kind of oil this is, but I presume it's coconut oil or palm oil). It has some maltodextrin, but only 3g per scoop, so nothing to freak out over.

Jer3 09-22-2011 06:14 PM

was browsing bb.com earlier and found out that they are almost cleared out of the old formula of assault. the new one has 3000mg more of the proprietary blend. also, the serving size is down from 40 to 32 :okay:

incubus 09-22-2011 08:30 PM

its always been around 20-30 for full scoop and a lil under

Excelsis 09-24-2011 08:57 AM

quick question.. How much protein do i need to take so i could maintain my weight? Not looking to increase muscle mass but tone myself

Fcukedd 09-24-2011 09:27 AM

You don't eat a "certain amount" of protein to maintain your weight. It's meeting your caloric maintenance that will prevent you from losing weight.
