Anyone with a BlackVue DR380G-HD?

this is the second time the camera wouldn't turn on; not working.

First time it was just plugged into cig lighter; then it broke down and the place I got it at replaced it for free the same time they hardwired it into my car with Power Magic Pro.

2 weeks after up until last night, it won't turn on again even when plugged in and with PowerMagic Pro working. Anyone have this problem?

I will contact the shop I bought it/installed at, but just wanna ask anyone else have a problem of the camera not turning on?

Mine does that sometimes. It won't turn on so I pull the power plug from the camera, wait 5 seconds, plug it in and it starts up no problem.

Very good little camera. Been using for almost a year now and no issues in both hot and cold weather. The metal heatsinks get really hot tho on a sunny day.

I just ordered a Mobius. Going to try to stealth install it with the lens cable extender.

It looks like Costco is selling BlackVue now, with an included 32GB microSD.
DR500 going for 317.99, DR550 (Front and Back) for 419.99.
Both prices include shipping and handling.

Anyone know is there is a big difference in quality between 720p vs 1080p on the blackvue dr400-hd??
couldnt find any side by side comparison on youtube...

DJ Milk 06-19-2014 08:21 PM

Can't you just find a video filmed with a blackvue dr400-hd and watch it in 720p and then in 1080p?

Wish i had one today....

I was driving on St John's in Pomo at about 60kms and i saw this lady run out into the middle at the road at top speed. She stopped in my lane and i almost killed her. She walked back to the sidewalk super angry.... I had no idea why she did that or if she was trying to kill herself using my car. I'm still in shock over what happened.

Nice. Is that part of the mirror stock or is it some sort of enclosure you made/bought?

Would it just be youtube just converting from 1080p to 720p...
Would there be a difference in quality from the actual recorded 1080p vs 720p...

Techmoan - Techmoan - Blackvue DR500GW-HD WiFi GPS Car Camera

This guy has a zip you can download of the raw 1080 vs 720p recorded videos. Youtube quality will almost always be worse than the raw video itself making 1080 and 720 similar.

I accidentally bought an the wrong enclosure which had a hollow point to the front that fit the camera lens perfectly.

FerrariEnzo 06-24-2014 08:29 AM

Does the Blackvue DR400G support SDXC cards or the high capacity formats like 64GB or is 32GB max?

Where'd this enclosure come from?

threezero 06-24-2014 11:54 AM

interested in the mobius camera. anymore reviews from users?

debating between this and a go pro. i know go pro can't be use for dash cam but i like how it has multiple mounting option for when i autocross. seems like mobius can be both a dash cam and a action cam.

how does one set the camera up with mobius? there is no lcd or iOS app i could use to make sure it is pointed right?

I've been told it's the MicroSd card needing formatting, it's helped with mine

godwin 06-24-2014 12:00 PM

You have to pop the card out and read it off line.. if you want something with remote access via app the only option are dashcam with wifi. I suggest you go to Dashcamtalk for options, people are way more knowledgeable there.

record test footage until you find a position suitable for your vehicle

freakshow 06-24-2014 12:33 PM

How are the BlackVue cameras nowadays in terms of reliability? I know before there were lots of issues with overheating..

sonick 06-24-2014 12:36 PM

These cheaper chinese cams like the G1W and Mobius have come a long way in terms of video quality.

The BlackVu/FineVu Korean ones may have more features (GPS, dual-channel, etc.) but for strict video quality the Chinese ones are much better value.
