Wow, finally some use for the smith machine! I thought they were only useful as towel racks....

BTW here's a fantastic article/interview with Mark Rippetoe. Read it and be smarter.

Megadose some fish oil (whatever it takes to get 4000mg of DHA daily) and seriously try taking some glucosamine (3000 mg per day). Nevermind premixed supplements, stick to the basics and take lots of them. I bet it will help! Maybe not with your knee, but the other stuff should feel better.

100lb db shoulder press today. elbow got completely fucked on 6th rep. couldn't even work out properly after that. now it still doesn't stop hurting. wonder what I did wrong. SO HARD to move up in weight for shoulder press. I can do 85's no problem everytime. When I'm feeling good I can do 90s no problem, 95 are hit and miss. Today I was feeling good so I went 90x10 no problem rested about 1-2 mins and went for the 100's and right eblow obviously did not enjoy this very much. it was hurting a little since my back/chest day on Thursday. :(

edit: its not actually the elbow joint but the area right above the elbow joint. Even the shoulder is feeling it a bit right now :fuuuuu:

SkinnyPupp 10-02-2010 07:33 PM

Were you doing the presses with a neutral grip, or palms forward?

IMO standing DB press is best done with a neutral grip (or at least rotating with thumbs going out at extension), and the foot of the working leg forward when high weights are used...

orange triad made no difference to joint problems. I just hate having to take all the pills in animal pak so I decided to stick with orange triad. Overall its a good multi anyways. I like controlled labs products. Their natural test boosters are pretty good as well. (better then any other ones I've tried.) Purple intrain tastes pretty good. Green mag I would say only get in pill form it is absolutely disgusting. (green apple) threw it in the garbage

Oh I see. Try starting with a neutral grip, and letting your arm rotate naturally until the palm faces forward at the top.

I do them standing, one arm at a time. Helps prevent injury, you see :) The weights won't be as high, but numbers are irrelevant IMO.

Will have to try them standing. I agree numbers are irrelevant but does help gauge progress!

i stayed home today to avoid drinking! Now I feel like ordering take out because I'm so bored ahhhh. I hate dieting! Oh and on top of that I haven't lost a lb of weight in the last 2 weeks.

eating approx 200-250g protein a day, 100 carb, 50-60fat. Did eat like a pig last weekend though lol

:fuuuuu:

velocity diet...

Opinions on diet appreciated. Thinking about trying it out.

the protein/carb/fat breakdown is pretty similar to what I do but they use protein shakes and stuff all day long.

Yes, as long as the numbers are going up, that's all that counts. So if you are going from 60 lbs to 75 lbs single sided, it's just as good as going from 80 lbs to 90 lbs double sided.

Thumbs UP! I lost over 20 lbs of fat on that. I didn't use their products, but kept everything just about the same. I plan on doing it again after 9 months of bulking

This time I am going to drop the protein a bit, and add fat. (coconut milk)

hal0g0dv2 10-02-2010 08:40 PM

v-diet is solid, it will work without there products heheh i love how they say u will die if u do not use our products

I started doing these a few weeks ago. I seem to get a way better pump and my shoulders feel like they've done a ton more work. And thats at 15-20lbs per side less weight than conventional shoulder presses. And I feel like I can go deeper on them too.

jeffh 10-02-2010 11:21 PM

went gym monday, tuesday, thursday, friday, saturday
my everything hurts

that is all

RRxtar 10-02-2010 11:34 PM

^heh

We, or I anyway, have pretty much thrown the routine out the window and Im just doing whatever feels good. Nothing hurts, actually everything feels fucking awesome. Im fiending for workouts.

I think Im growing like a motherfucker right now too. Will post pics in the log in a few weeks.

Yup also make sure you fully extend, it hits the triceps well too that way

yeah controlled labs makes legit stuff, ordering some orange triad too, green mag is not too bad mixed with white flood it is a creatine mix so dont drink it expecting to taste like fruitopia

joint support id go with animal flex if you dont mind prices but im just sticking wit fish oil for now, which im out off

Hondaracer 10-03-2010 09:31 AM

so that velocity diet is 100% sups?

you dont eat any actual food just those products?

SkinnyPupp 10-03-2010 09:35 AM

You eat food, it's mostly in the form of whey, fish oil, and some peanut butter. You add supps like leucine and a post workout drink on training days, and eat a healthy 'solid' meal once a week.

Hondaracer 10-03-2010 10:12 AM

how long were u on that diet to lose the 20lbs of fat?

SkinnyPupp 10-03-2010 10:18 AM

30 days

But you can keep doing a moderate version after that for another month or so - eating a solid meal once a day for a while, working up to 2, etc. You could lose a lot more than 20 lbs.

Basically it can be done with any low carb diet with weight training, but this FORCES you to do it, if you have the willpower to stick to it. It's not easy after the 2nd week.

But in the end, it actually has an effect of resetting your palate, so you don't really crave carbs at all anymore, and just use them as fuel on the rare occasion where you'd need carbs for fuel.
