I have been using the Tangerine Mastercard for a few years now. Pretty decent for no annual fee cash back.

You get 2% back in 3 categories and 0.5 % on everything else. The cash back goes into a Tangerine account and you can transfer it to another bank or apply it against your bill any time.

My friend thinks he got approved for the Home Trust Visa. He said he got sent a PIN code, but no card yet. It took about a month.

I got an email a few days ago saying my application is being processed and I'll be hearing back in 3-4 weeks.

Does anyone else have the Scotia Reward cards?

We have one from last year where we got a bunch of bonus points, not sure what the best to spend it on?

The only other points we collect is the PC Points and those are pretty straightforward lol use them on groceries and that's all.

Dumping my infinite Avion once my trip i booked with them is over in May uhgg..

70,000 points to pay off $680 of a trip, which, if i had booked through KLM direct, i would have paid $450 less than the Avion price anyways..

card is a joke unless you're constantly booking travel with it

Best way is to transfer Avion out to other points (Aeroplan, BA, etc.)

I don't recommend converting points to pay for trip directly. It never works out in your favor.

Finally found an alternative to the soon to be dead, Amazon.ca Visa card. The US Costco Visa card by Citi Bank. No foreign transaction fee. They're also making it easier for Canadians to apply. They have an address in Blaine where the card gets shipped to. I didn't qualify on the spot, but I was told they would be getting a hold of me for further processing. 4% cash back on gas purchases up to a limit of $7, 000.00 per year. I don't think I would even get close to that, lol.

2% at Costco and 1% everywhere else that takes Visa. Not bad for what it is. So, I guess I pay in CAD at whatever rate it happens to be at on that day with no transaction fee. I'll ask them that when they call me.

Details on this? Are they accepting applications from Canadians... or do you have a US credit score etc?

Pretty sure its only for US residents, unless you have a SSN.

They really want Canadians to get this card. They worked out a deal with one of those mail forwarding places in Blaine.

In the application, there is a choice of what country you are from.

I've been trying to get this card for quite some time. Every time I apply, they give me free stuff like cooler bags, totes, etc. Today, they gave me a huge tote with freebies inside...... paper towels, bottled water, chocolates, pens, microfibre towel, wipes, etc.

Anyway, if it works out, great!

Not to mention, redeeming for economy class tickets is a poor return on mileage usage

seems like that Costco visa would be a conflict of interest for costco in Canada since they only back MC here..

interesting to see

Yes, your return is much higher when you book premium class.

Otherwise economy tickets on expensive routes are also a good way to redeem points.

I read that there is a limit on the number of transactions per day, but I couldn't find it on their site. It doesn't make any sense to have a limit. Can you confirm?

What do you guys think of the AMEX Cobalt card? Doesnt include FTF but the reward system looks decent.. Im currently using the BMO Cashback card, which has no Annual Fee, so this BMO card will be back backup if I do get the AMEX Cobalt

Up to 30,000 Bonus Points:
In your first year as a new Cobalt Cardmember, you can earn 2,500 Membership Rewards points for each monthly billing period in which you spend $500 in purchases on your Card. This could add up to 30,000 points in a year

EARN 5X THE POINTS ON EATS & DRINKS1
From grocery shopping to dining out, earn 5 points for every $1 in Card purchases at eligible restaurants, bars, cafés, and even food delivery in Canada

EARN 2X THE POINTS ON TRAVEL & TRANSIT1
It can be a cab across town, the morning bus, or a weekend hotel stay. Earn 2 points for every $1 spent on eligible transit & gas purchases in Canada and eligible travel purchases

EARN 1X THE POINTS ON EVERYTHING ELSE1
Concerts? Sneakers? Movie tickets? Whatever you’re into, earn 1 point for every $1 in Card purchases on everything else

Looks like it's $10 for 1000 points if travel purchase. If other purchase, then it's $7 for 1000 points. Effectively making it a 5% or 3.5% cash back, respectively.

Looks like a great card if you travel a lot
