Any suggestions on a good travel card that doesn't require me to book through their website? Planning to go on a small road trip. And the hotel I'm staying at can only be booked through their own website.

Only one I can think of is TD First Class Infinite, but I have that already.

They have aew card coming out that's better and no Annual Fee:
Quote:
Earning Rewards:
- 2% cash back on Rogers (Rogers, Fido) products and services (Rogers/Fido/Chatr bills)
- 1.75% cash back on all other purchases in CAD
- 4% (net 1.5% after 2.5 FX Fee) cash back on purchases made in foreign currencies
- No caps, unlimited cash back

Redemption (Same as Rogers/Fido MC):
- CB can be redeemed once it hits $20
- CB can be redeemed on Rogers/Fido/Chatr products, Shopping Channel purchases, Jays tickets (no single games for some reason), Jays Shop, Rogers Center concessions/parking, etc (unlimited as long as CB is > $20)
- CB can be redeemed against statement balance by calling Rogers, or creating an online request (Has to be requested by Dec 1st of current year, receive credit sometime in Jan of next year)

Other Benefits:
- Extended Warranty
- Purchase Protection
- Out-of-province Emergency Medical
- Trip Cancellation/Interruption
- Car Rental Collision / Loss Damage Insurance

Requirement:
- 80k personal, or 150k household annual income
OR
- Annual 25k spending on your current Rogers/Fido MC

Annual fee and cost:
- NO annual fee

Launch date:
- Late May/June 2018
- If you are approved, you should receive the new Rogers WE by the end of June 15th.

How to apply?
- Call Rogers Bank 1-855-775-2265 and switch over
- Create a service request through online banking
- No credit check if you switch over from your current Rogers/Fido MC
- For new customers, you can try applying for Rogers MC then switch over once you get the card, or simply wait until the card is launched (potential welcome bonus).
You can switch now. I just called in and switch from the current Fido. Easy peasy, no credit check if you already have the Rogers/Fido card and meet 80k income req.

+1 for the Amex Cobalt. I recently switched from the Amex Gold card to this. It's definitely a card aimed at millennials-- great for travel (despite the 2.5% forex) and good for eating out. In less than six months of ownership, I've racked up points that are enough for some short haul flights in North America.

Incorrect actually.

1000 pts = $10 off for all travel-related items
1000 pts = $7 off for everything else

You can use all of your points to pay off any of the items you charge to your card and can pay your balance almost entirely with points if you wanted to with at the redemption rates above.

Applied for "The SimplyCash Preferred Card" from AMEX last night. I'm expecting some big spending coming soon, 19" summer tires, coilovers, brakes, and a new bumper, so the cashback bonus is pretty attractive.

$99/annual fee
5% cb on anything for the first 6mo up to $300 ($6000 in 6 months)
2% regularly
2.5% fx rate as usual (but under the promo period, it'd still be effective 2.5% cb)

Started looking at Brim Financial too, and I might switch to that after the first year of AMEX.

Good point. But I'm probably not going to be shopping locally (online), except for tires. Which has a better chance, of being accepted. I do know a lot of places in the hospitality industry that doesn't take amex tho

Superstore and Costco don't take Amex which is a bummer because I do most of my grocery shopping there. At least Safeway does though.

AMEX Simply Cash (NOT preferred) has it for free.

100K travel insurance. Pretty standard. Also has the 5% cb, but only on grocery/gas/restaurants for 6 mo, then 1.25% on everything else. AstulzerRZD can probably give a full review on the SimplyCash.

I'd be inclined to use the PC MC if they offered points for the Mobil stations as well

Do they not? Since they are attached to the Superstores they should give full PC Optimum Points for Mobil as they are still the gas bar.

Be aware that the PCWE MC travel insurance is 8 days unlike a lot of premium cards that have 15 day travel.

Can someone try and tell me? The website states its for Esso only, but Esso is owned by Mobil.

On another note, just got approved for the AMEX card.

PC Gas Bar (which is being converted to Mobil) gets you 7 points/liter. That stays as far I know.
