and is there a way I could save all my music from downloads etc and also pictures to my SD card?

they keep going into my phone storage.

IIRC the phone defaults to downloading to phone, and there's no option in stock TW to change it. You can try going into your browser's settings to see if you can change the path.

For me I do periodic backups (manual) to my computer, so I never really thought of it.

Always a good idea to, since for some reason the new crop of Samsung phones have a knack for losing IMEI when flashing ROMs. For the Captivate, backing up your EFS folder was necessary when you were unlocking your phone with the hellroz app :P

Psykopathik 12-17-2012 11:05 AM

someone explain EFS backup and how to do it?

Gh0stRider 12-17-2012 12:08 PM

[TOOL]Backup/Restore EFS (IMEI) for SGNII - xda-developers
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1308546

This part of the device contains information such as IMEI (or MEID and ESN in the case of CDMA devices), programming parameters for the device such as your account information (phone number, etc), data provisioning parameters, and a whole bunch of other things that, when not handled properly, can render a device completely useless.

Just got my Note II few days ago. Unlocking it to use on Fido was a breeze.
What Rom are you guys using? Keep it stock?
I checked XDA and it seems like the Rom that has the most support is the CleanRom so I went ahead and flashed that two days ago and it seems pretty solid so far. No random reboots or anything and I love the added Multiview window function!

For people looking to flash back to the stock ROM's and need a quick tutorial as to how, check this out. Verified by me as I was having trouble with the JEDI X ROM recently.

How does this hold the device? Or is it built to just rest the device on the gamepad?

super noob here ... i just got the note2 SGH-i317M and if i'm not mistaken ... it does not have traditional chinese with zhuyin (taiwanese) input ... the ONLY chinese they have is simplified and it's pinyin?

how do i get the input method and if possible ... i'd like it to able recognize handwritten chinese too ... i asked my friends in taiwan and after some correspondance it seems like their phones comes with these features and our canadian version doesn't?

any help would be greatly appreciated (using an iPhone for too long makes one pretty mobile phone challenged ... steep learning curve to transition to an android)

Well there are plenty of handwriting keyboards on the Play store.
Just download a few and try.
Here is a website with a few suggestions: Top 5 free Chinese handwriting input for Android

It's gonna be harder to find keyboards which supports both handwriting and zhuyin as most of them supports pinyin. Also, I assume you are from Taiwan and most of those keyboards might be set to simplified chinese by default so just dig around in the settings for the keyboards to see if there is an option to switch to traditional chinese. Some do, some don't.

If you feel adventurous (note this worked for ATT, not confirmed on Canadian, so YMMV):

I'm not sure if the 2 apps offered above offer handwriting, but you can look deeper to see if they do.

Not sure if it is the made in China battery, but I am now getting very shitty life out of the phone.
Everything is pretty much the same. Stock i317 everything, china 3500 mAh battery, screen on full bright and usual phone use, sms, whatsapp, and angry birds and I am only getting max 12 hours on a full charge.

Psykopathik 12-20-2012 01:18 AM

China batteries never live up to their rated mAh ratings

i took a eBay TPU case and cut some slits in it and used zip ties to mount the case to the wire frame. then i can pop my phone in and out easily.
