YES!
I think I'm getting really spoiled with the Note II's battery life.
It's just crazy!

That was one of the reasons i was so sold on the note. I can go days without worrying about charging it

Very true bout' that batter life.

Do any of you actually use the S-Pen often? I can't find the need to use it as much as I would like except when playing touch based games like Plants Vs Zombies.

!Yaminashi 01-14-2013 03:52 PM

I use it for screenshots and when editing photos.
I dont like the swipe to screenshot thing

ApePee2 01-14-2013 04:23 PM

I used it once on the day I got the phone. Haven't found any use for it really.

Any way to turn off "silent mode" automatically when u are home?

If you come home consistently at the same time, a scheduler like Timeriffic will do. If you feel nerdy, NFC tags are cheap and multi-use.

There's nothing baked into the phone to do it automatically.

How do you make a NFC tag to do that? I think it would be cool to have around the workplace and I'm so interested in making one!

I just bought some NFC tags! Should get here soon.

You download an NFC App, and program your tag to do what you want it to. Then you stick the tag on wherever you want, and just tap your phone on it - the tag will change your setting.

I think the most popular app so far is called NFC Task Launcher. NFC tags are pretty widely available.

^ where did you order from and how much?

insomniac 01-15-2013 08:52 AM

Looks like they're 1-2$ each on eBay! Damn I'm sold. Not keeping my nexus 4 anymore.

There might be an app for that, but it would be based on your GPS location, so the app will have to be constantly locating your position all the time. Your battery life would be greatly impacted.

Furthermore you can find an app that will turn on and off services/features based on time.

LOL or you could go develop that!

There's a third way to do screenshots. It's like how iPhone does it. Hold the power button and home button at the same time.

dont listen to anyone here! Cant believe no one has mentioned the app tasker.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....taskerm&hl=en

When you have the app just go make a new profile

name: silent off home
Context: Cell near (press search and it will look for cell towers in your house, best walk around your whole house while its searching in case you are in range of more than 1 tower)
task: enable ringtone, + whatever else you want e.g. turn off auto brightness, set brightness to max, basically anything that your phone can do, it can automate it.

I use it for things like turning gps on only when i open certain apps, or turning wifi on when im in my home cell tower. Also if you do end up using tasker use "cell near" whenever possible because doing it by cell tower instead of gps or wifi saves a shit load of battery.

Video if my ramblings are too hard to understand.

z3german 01-15-2013 06:04 PM

On a side note,

Whenever i wear new pants the first thing i think of is "will my phone fit?"

every single time i go "oh wow, it does lol!" :fullofwin:

i got my note 2 on telus last week for free
not to sure if it is still on sale

Euro7r 01-15-2013 09:46 PM

Been trying to root my Note 2 for the past 45 mins and still can't get Odin to detect my phone when in recovery mode. I think I am missing some stupid ass usb driver. Odin detects my phone when the phone isn't in recovery mode, once i turn it off and put it to recovery mode, odin doesn't detect my phone.

You sure you got that right?
You have to put it into "DOWNLOAD Mode" to use ODIN.
Don't boot into your recovery like CWR or TWRP.

kiwee 01-15-2013 10:08 PM

Ok, I'm in the note 2 family now..I'm having trouble deleting the "samsung allshare cast.." and the "video hub"

inv4zn 01-15-2013 10:35 PM

Those are baked in your rom. Can't delete AFAIK.
