You have to put it into "DOWNLOAD Mode" to use ODIN.
Don't boot into your recovery like CWR or TWRP.

My bad. I meant download mode. I did it right because I have rooted my S2 before.

In that case it's probably driver issue.
Try rooting it on another PC.

Odin detects my phone when the phone isn't in recovery mode, once i turn it off and put it to recovery mode, odin doesn't detect my phone.

Did you also enable development USB debugging? I usually enter recovery mode via command like through the Android-SDK tools. Much easier to ensure that your computer is communicating properly with the phone prior to any software adjustment.

Sushi604 01-16-2013 09:40 AM

Also, isn't it download mode? When your phone is in recovery, you should be seeing either the stock Samsung recovery mode or whatever custom recovery you flashed onto the phone.

Odd... you may need to reset your battery stats, but that's weird.

Mr.JDM 01-17-2013 05:04 PM

Yes even left charging overnight. I eventually did a full reset and let my battery run out. That seemed to work as I woke up today with 100% battery. Let u guys know how it is tomorrow morning

hold volume down when you reboot. that should get you into DOWNLOAD mode.

if you see clocworkmod, that's RECOVERY mode

also download the latest version of KIES.

Mr.JDM 01-18-2013 01:23 PM

i think it had something to do with live wallpaper. i deleted that and things seems to be working fine.

i noticed this phone takes forever to charge up.

Rumours are that the Note 3 will have a 6.3" screen. How are you supposed to hold that to your ear?!

Also both that and the S4 will have an octo-core processor. Does a phone really need eight cores?

TOPEC 01-18-2013 02:31 PM

My note likes to sync old emails, like if i get a new email n delete it, it'll sync some old emails from a few weeks back as unread, any idea to stop this from happening?

The same thing people said when the first iphone came out, and more recently the original note. Now look at everybody holding shiny novels to their faces.

xilley 01-18-2013 04:38 PM

fuck man, note2 never guess the right words i want to text.
used the swiftkey free trial and i loved it, but it expired..

No phone really needs 8 cores. Hell no phones absolutely need 4 cores either.
Its all just a big race in the mobile world now and it's beyond ridiculous.

But yeah a 6.3" screen is just stupid. I dont see that being a hit. The Note 2 is borderlining too big already

Yeah surprisingly the stock keyboard is really bad. Look around for the 4.2 jellybean keyboard apk. I managed to find a download link to one on xda and it's been pretty good.

I actually have swiftkey purchased but there's just something about it I dont like

Depends on the charger... are you using the stock charger?

But there comes a point where it becomes less usable, and I think the Note 2 is already verging on that. An even bigger phone, and it'll be very difficult for people with normal sized hands to even hold the phone in one hand, nevermind actually using it.

I have a Note 2 myself and have been using it for about three weeks, and there are a lot of things I like about it, but certainly it's not as easy to use with one hand. Sometimes I'm using it while holding on a bar on the bus, and I have to reach around with my pinky to get the back button. I don't think it'll be physically possible for me to do that if the phone was even 1cm wider.

hal0g0dv2 01-18-2013 07:05 PM

my massive hands make it look like a normal phone haha

I would have to agree about it being borderline too big but honestly it feels normal now. IMO the benefits far outweigh the large size.
