i dont think there's been much testing of the two cameras? just did a quick google search and yeah there doesn't seem to be any direct comparisons yet

however dpreview has a photo taken with a 4S (that was taken on a different day/time) in nearly the identical spot that apple took a photo for one of their sample images

iPhone 5 vs. iPhone 4S: Image comparison: Digital Photography Review

looks the same pretty much but cant really compare accurately

but anyway why would you guys care about the camera in either of these phones they're crappy cams ;) *insert nokia gloating* :fullofwin:

The Apple website's statements are a bit ambiguous as well saying that unlocked iPhones can be purchased online and new contracts can be purchased at the retail stores. However, saying what can be bought (either online or at the stores) is not the same as explicitly saying that unlocked phones cannot be bought at the retail outlet.

Anyways, I've called the Pacific Centre and Richmond Centre stores and employees there have explicitly stated that Apple has gone the way of the US and are only selling locked phones at the retail stores. The employees did state that you can still buy a phone at full price then have your wireless provide unlock it for you. I smell a cash-grab agreement between Apple and the wireless providers.

Obviously, phones purchased from the online store are factory unlocked.

I just wanted to provide this info to you guys in case anyone was curious. What do you guys think this news will do to the line-ups on release date?

id imagine there would still be people lining up only to find out they can only purchase locked phone at retail stores

ps: would i be able to walk into apple store and grab some nano sims for free on launch day? im guessing ill prob need to provide a receipt to show the number of sims needed?

Mikli 09-19-2012 02:39 PM

Do we have to get new LTE nano sim? Will they come with the ip5??

Gh0stRider 09-19-2012 02:46 PM

This was posted by someone up there, I think this is a stupid ad and it shows how Samsung is starting to get butthurt over everything.

Samsung is now targeting the "Apple Sheeps" rather than the Company it self.

I don't see how that will raise their business and what not.

It seems like Samsung is having a little man's syndrome outbreak.

'touch phones to share playlists' ain't gonna convince me to cancel my iPhone 5 preorder.

Just sayin'

Cassijon 09-19-2012 03:31 PM

nice. my 64 gb shipped and got a call from rogers store telling me i can pick it up on friday.

i asked him if i can take the phone unopened because i dont want to use it until i get a case and screen protectors and he said they will not release any phones to anyone if they arent activated in store.

guess that puts a damper on my plan to sell it and anyone elses for that matter

Apple did the same thing with windows PC's with these commercials as well didn't they?

Just sayin'

Have to say the touch to share is quite cool. only if its work for all android or for the ios. almost all my friends have some form of iphone (3g, 4 4s 3gs etc) and for the other one they use android but almost every single one of them has different android phones and my guess is features like this is phone specific?

sonick 09-19-2012 03:33 PM

Android Beam is for all android provided they have NFC and are on ICS.

S-Share, which you can send videos and other larger files via Wifi Direct but triggered by NFC, is only on Samsung devices that support it.

FUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK KKKKKKKK. This pisses me off because i wanted to sell mine. Can you sell after it's activated?

isn't that a big battery drain having it turned on at all times then?

I don't know of any of my Android friends actually use it.

Those were personifications of the computers, not the people who bought them.

of course you can sell, but everyone wants a brand new phone. by not having thr phone still sealed in the box, eveyrone that has a rogers locked phone will be taking a hit.

can anyone else call their rogers store to confirm?

jack3d 09-19-2012 03:50 PM

ill take your roger locked phone, given the price is fair

+1, very curious on how the iPhone 5's are selling LOL

Harvey Specter 09-19-2012 03:53 PM

Well there's nothing on the Rogers or Fido site saying you must active your phone in store upon picking it up unless I'm missing some fine print so I can't see how a Rogers dealer can force you to active in store. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the pick ups begin.

I have my fido locked 16gb phone for $850, no buyers yet lol.

Cassijon 09-19-2012 03:58 PM

i just called retentions and they did confirm that rogers has instructed all stores not to release any un-activated iphone 5's. every customer has to activate in store before leaving

fuck. this sucks more than the Toronto Maple Leafs. ARGGGGGGGG

They made the same type of commercial last year about the 4S and the GSII it's nothing new.

On another note, lol.

Yeah its really to a point of beating a dead horse and Apple doesn't need to do anything to reply but to publish numbers at the end of the quarter.

Like I said before people all have different priorities on what they use a phone for and the iPhone suits what I need. I judge the phone by Gain / Lose factor is that if I gain Siri I lose NFC, to me its what works and thats what I went with :)

MTV Cribs 09-19-2012 04:33 PM

6.0 sucks. I can't watch videos on the forum with my iPad any more. For the videos posted above, all I see is a black box.
