why does it say not eligibile for cancel or return?

Also I heard that all the iphones are all factory unlocked until they stick a sim in and then the phone is carrier locked? Cuz I called apple adn they said I can still buy the phone outright but I just have to choose which carrier to have it locked. Cant I just buy the phone and take the nano sim myself?

Yes, you get to choose which Fido store when you place a reservation through their site.

Noob iPhone unlocked question.

I'm with Rogers and considering buy a brand new iPhone 4 for pretty cheap but it's locked to Fido. Can I get Fido to unlock it? Even if they don't, it's still pretty easy to get that model unlocked right?

I think that's a deposit.. not a charge..

they take a deposit to reserve a phone for you..

so if your phone is $179.. it'd be $179 - $40.

rk604 09-16-2012 05:44 PM

why bother go through reservation? apple store will ONLY be doing contracted/activations on iphone in their retail stores...so i'm sure they'll have good availability

why bother making reservations for a nice high end restaurant? they have a lot of tables, im sure youll get a seat sooner or later.

your right, i read the fine print, its a charge that will be credited back once I get the phone.

just reserved, position is 6300

Take this with a grain of salt, as it could have been faked.

First Geekbench iPhone 5

This puts the iPhone 5 at slightly more than twice as fast as the iPad 2/3 and about 2.5 times as fast as the 4S. If they're right about it being 2 cores at 1GHz, then they've obviously made some signifcant upgrades to the processor architecture to double performance with the same clock speed (as iPad 2/3).

Actually this year, all phones including the ones sold at the apple store will be LOCKED. The only way to get a fully factory unlocked one is ordering online.

is this the $50 upgrade credit that rogers is offering me??

If your device doesn’t ship within 14 days from launch or your reservation, whichever is later, we’ll apply a $50 credit* to your account as our thanks for your patience. The $50 credit will appear on one of your next two invoices following the activation of your reserved device on your account.

The rep I chatted with today said that this $50 is an additonal credit. He also stated its 14 business days not 14 days.

But I read some of those people who pre-ordered and got the "2 week wait" time has changed to 21st. Which makes the value of us early buyers lower

scoobyej20 09-16-2012 07:42 PM

Anyone selling their carrier locked iphone 5's? How much are you guys selling them for?

I seen ppl selling them for $700-$1000 on Craigslist

double0seven 09-16-2012 08:10 PM

I think i'm just going to go with the flow and do 1000 for 16gb ,not the carrier locked ones

a lot of ppl doing 16gb unlocked for 900.

double0seven 09-16-2012 08:17 PM

Shit really? I've only skimmed through the first page of craigslist.

Cassijon 09-16-2012 08:18 PM

i have a rogers locked 64GB coming in. maybe i should sell mine for $1400 and just wait to buy a 32GB unlocked in a month or 2

BaoTurbo 09-16-2012 08:47 PM

I'm planning to wait until the hype is over which is probably going to be 3 months later and then buy it. Idk thats my plan. Probably more reviews will come out and specs will be more detailed then

dangonay 09-16-2012 09:22 PM

I wonder how many iPhone 5 sellers on Craigslist are going to end up getting pepper-sprayed and robbed when they meet the "buyer"? Or how many buyers are going to get robbed of their $1,000 cash when they meet the "seller"?
