If you're talking about data it could be the kernel you're using?

i was thinking that, but i tried faux and franco. sadly, asking anything on the franco thread is useless. the guy is a douche

I was on build 32. It seemed to be the best for me. Although I hear the test builds 46 and 50 are pretty good too. I'm on Faux kernel 005 6r2 or something. Haven't experienced any data drops yet. Will use it for a few more days.

ugh i need to keep up
i think the last time i cared about data drop was b42 on franco

Still choked that android OS hsic wakelock still sucks up so much battery even though it's supposed to be "fixed" in these later kernels. Guess we really have to wait for 4.2.2 before it gets fixed officially.

Prelude. I was hard pressed to get 4h screen on time in 10-12h off charger. Then i screwed something up (irrelevant ) and had to reflash stock images. So I just unzipped them, chucked fastboot + dll's in there for ease of use, and ran flash-all.bat. Yeah yeah, I could have done it manually, but since i know how, i didn't bother.
Now my next findings are sure to attract so flaming from more experienced users that will say "it's placebo", "it doesn't work like that" etc. While I don't have screenies to confirm pre flash stats, i have gathered a few post flash stats. Here we go.
Some cycles are misssing, since i either accidently deleted screenies or forgot to take them. But that should give you a general idea. WiFi used mainly, apart from last cycle, where 12 were on data only and the rest was while connected to wifi and reading a book in fbreader.

So for me it's fairly conclusive, reflashing stock images has GREATLY improved my battery life. I had a few chats and we came to a conclusion that it is possible that at the factory device has simply not been flashed "properly", mass flashing differs from your usual .img flashing normally.

What you think...Well, it's up to you for decide. I know few more people who've done the same, and while their improvement is not as drastic as mine, it is still an improvement.

I shit you not. This reflashing works. Still 58% left after 3 hours of screen time.
Android OS is no longer killing my battery. Fucking amazing.

But is that right after a fresh reflash?
I know this sounds weird but on my gnex the first few days after i flashed a new kernel i would get awesome battery life. After about a week or so it would always go back to normal

Wow that's almost a perfect photosphere shot. Mine always have messed up stuff.

FerrariEnzo 01-23-2013 07:04 AM

So I google'd and apparently its the actual app.. it doesnt stitch the photos properly..
Going left-right is no problem.. its when I start going Up and Down...

I sure hope Google can fix this...

that is pretty cool

Graeme S 01-23-2013 11:26 AM

A lot of it depends on how far you are from your target; if you're trying to do a photosphere of a room it doesn't work so well because everything is so close. If you've got a big open space, it's a lot easier/better.

Photospheres are pretty hard to do perfectly. For the best results, don't move your phone around. Only tilt it. Kind of like panning a camera on a tripod.

dyan 01-23-2013 12:13 PM

Simplex: I'm not sure if i'm blind, but I can't find the DL link for the battery life zip.

Simplex123 01-23-2013 12:30 PM

LOL you are very much blind because if you read the post, you'll know that it involves reflashing the stock images through adb and not just flashing a zip in recovery.

Its very neat... Im using now.. weird at first but once you get used to it, its good.. the only thing is that no Status Bar, so you cant see that you would normally see in your status bar unless you get the Smart StatusBar app from the play store.

The PIE can be relocated to the sides or at the top... I find the bottom feels better for menus...

!MiKrofT 01-23-2013 04:24 PM

Looks like the PIE can obtained from a separate app as long as you're rooted:

LMT Launcher (actually came out first and then he helped PA team with theirs)
[APP] LMT Launcher v1.8 for GNex/Nexus4/Nexus7/GSIII/HD2 and more... (ROOT) - xda-developers
