Noob Q, but what happens to all the apps when you root the phone and flash it to a custom fw? Is there something like the "Sync" feature on the iphone?

Kim Jong Un 08-18-2013 03:36 PM

Does anyone have this issue where the s view cover screen pop up randomly every now and then? It annoys the crap out of me... Is there a way to turn this off? I don't use the s view cover either.

I think if you download a backup for the phone then it can back it all up. Titanium backup or TRWP backup works I think. I'm still a noob at this too

I tried hidden options, it didn't work so I assume it won't for a while. I wouldn't tinker with it more if I were you because later even if you bought an unlock code then you can't unlock it I hear. Best bet is buy one on ebay. 20 bucks. Just glad its not an iphone which is $70+ at repair shops

jeedee 08-27-2013 07:32 PM

guess i gotta make a trip to Crystal mall for unlocking lol

Psykopathik 09-15-2013 05:47 AM

Care to tell this idiot here where you got your Google S4 ROM from?

Got my Wind S4 a few weeks ago as well!

I'm running Infamous S4 rom with kernel. I'm very happy with this rom, I only flashed AOSP on my S3 but reverted back to stock because I liked the TW features. Infamous S4 gives features from both AOSP/TW.

@Traum look through XDA-Developers and find your S4 model.

Psykopathik 09-16-2013 02:27 PM

from XDA developer website. the S4 forum for the T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S4 (M919). the google s4 is I9505.

the Wind M919V is identical, except in name.

i had to install the Bell CWM recovery as the M919V doesnt have one for some reason. it works fine anyways. i installed it with ROM Manager from the App store.

the Rom Name is "I9505 - Official_Google_Edition_4.3_by_Jamal2367_Finally_M H5.zip"

aha found the thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2404687

not feature filled, but i dig the small footprint required.

oh for the curious, my 128GB SD card works on this phone too :)

TOS'd 09-16-2013 02:31 PM

For those running custom ROMs, which on are you using? Thoughts?

custom is always better, unless you are worried about warranty

less junk software, faster snappier phone, more storage space, more options for every aspect.

try em all. keep the one that fits you, honestly. no one can say which is really best.

does anyone's phone seem to get uncomfortably hot when gaming?

TOS'd 09-16-2013 03:12 PM

If I run a custom rom, and there is a Rogers software update, do i not do it and wait unil custom rom is updated? Will updating it accidentally screw me over?

!MiKrofT 09-16-2013 08:34 PM

You can't really switch back without reloading everything. Also custom ROMs will be more up to date than anything Rogers will release.

Are there then updates for ROMS? where you just add the updated script/program/magic? Or do I have to flash the new updated ROM and start again? /noob

jeedee 09-16-2013 09:25 PM

How do i change my pattern lock from this:

http://i43.tinypic.com/vzc2mg.png

to this:

http://www.samsung.com/us/system/sup...k_Pattern2.png

Using Apex Launcher and WidgetLocker. My pattern lock isn't as "bolded" as the 2nd pic lol

Depends on the ROM. The more popular ones release updates fairly regularly. Some even have bleeding edge nightly updates if you're feeling brave. Minor revisions you should be able to dirty flash so all your apps and settings are retained. One thing I recommend buying is Titanium backup. The best way to backup and restore your apps.

EDITED: "Titan in" to Titanium ;) ~Psyko

Did anyone get their screen replaced yet? Cracked the gorilla glass while dirt biking and haven't gone into store yet.

Heard samsung is like $200 or something? After-market repair shops charge $130. I'd rather get samsung to do it for that price

PHATFLIP_14 09-22-2013 07:07 PM

Thinking to upgrade from my S2 to S4.

For the guys that have the phone, hope you guys can share some input to this.

How you guys liking the phone overall?
How is the battery life? (I am heavy data user)
What do you guys dislike about it? (If there is any)

I am heavily considering this phone or the HTC One.

dicecube 10-01-2013 12:04 PM

I picked up my second S4 this weekend. I've tried many phones around this price range, and this is by far the best option imo.

Mr.HappySilp 10-04-2013 08:52 AM

How's the battery life on the S4? is it on par with the note2?

roughmandamn 10-04-2013 09:16 AM

im running cyanogen mod 10.1.3 the most stable on android 4.2 . its practically stock android aka google edition rom but with some extra features and customization. using nova launcher prime. actually paid the extra 2 bucks for some features. good investment.

guurl 10-04-2013 11:01 AM
