No shipping info though

When I sign in on the FS website it says my order status is in progress, and under payment information it says charged but I haven't gotten any emails, nor do I see any charge on my CC when I look online. So I really have no idea

PS4 mandatory 1.5 update

You will want to DL this now rather than while every single other owner is downloading it. At 300MB their servers may have trouble handling the load.

To install it you will need to go into safe mode (hold power button 7 seconds when turning on) and install from a USB

StylinRed 11-12-2013 10:15 PM

I was thinking I should dl the update for exactly that reason but forgot where to even look

thanks!

also skinny anyway to fix that change with the site reloading the website whenever the "thanks" button is clicked is annoying

SkinnyPupp 11-12-2013 10:18 PM

Also here is the full OS file, in case you are upgrading your HDD right away

As for the thanks button, looking into it

underscore 11-13-2013 06:16 AM

Thanks button works for me but RS looks a tad funny atm.

x2,....checked my bank statement online and it has being charged but no shipping yet...edit: from bestbuy.ca nothing from amazon.ca yet.

kingdrew 11-13-2013 07:55 AM

^ If you ordered from bestbuy or futureshop, it's probably going to ship tomorrow. Their warehouses are in Richmond.

Does anyone know how developer friendly ps4 is?

I'm looking for a console that I tinker around and develop for, and so far Microsoft XNA has done an incredible job with indie dev for the 360.

Does the PS4 have anything comparable?

Going by the fact that the two machines now share the same x86 architecture, it should be pretty similar now. It seems as though Sony is really pushing their "we're going to be very indie-developer friendly" ideas in all of their major speeches/events. They say that it's a console that facilitates easy development, which wasn't the case with the outgoing CELL technology.

As for APIs and the like for Sony- I can't comment on that as I've never developed for either console.

i'm in the same boat. status says in progress and the payment part says charged.

the weird thing is that they sent me an email stating they had issues charging my CC on Monday. i called my bank since then and they said no issues at all. i called futureshop yesterday and today, both times they said they will try to charge my CC but nothing has happened so far.

Join us at our official Playstation 4 midnight Launch Party tomorrow at our Granville location in Downtown Vancouver.

Party starts on Nov. 14 at 9pm. Arrive early for a chance to win a PS Vita Prize Pack! A minimum of 250 unreserved PS4s will be available.

Hmmmm....how long will 250 last?.

TOPEC 11-13-2013 12:58 PM

ForbiddenX 11-13-2013 02:02 PM

I wouldn't be too worried yet. I preorder games from BB and FS all the time and I never get shipping notifications until the morning of a release. Their wherehouse is in Richmond and I have always received my order the same day typically within 5 hours. If you get no shipping info on Friday then I would be worried.

Do you need a game receipt to upgrade from a ps3 version to the ps4?

I hear some stores do it free and others for $10. Anyone know for sure?

Reviews are coming in

PlayStation 4, connected: first impressions out of the box | The Verge

Quote:

At first glance, it feels like Sony's gone a long way toward fixing what ailed the PS3, and toward enabling a much better and more impressive gaming experience going forward. It doesn't feel ambitious like the Xbox One, but it feels like a really solid gaming console. Of course, we're just getting started.
PlayStation 4 Review | Polygon

Quote:

the PlayStation 4's focus on gaming — and only gaming — is undermined by a distinct lack of compelling software. That failing is sure to improve — better games and more of them will appear on the PlayStation 4 — but right now, this is a game console without a game to recommend it. Early adopters of the PS4 this fall are buying potential energy. We're just waiting for a place to spend it.

I think you’ll want one eventually. But, cool as the PS4 is, a lack of a must-play game means you can afford to wait.

Sorry but i'll have to chime in on this. PS3 is SATA2, so it's not really taking advantage of the SSD speeds. Knowing that GT5 was heavily relied on HDD space, I opted for a SSD at the time. Honestly didn't make a significant difference in loading times. The whole point of the console is to have level playing field amongst your competitors, so i'm sure there's not gonna be any performance/value-added benefits in doing this. If anything just get a 1TB 7200RPM...that'll be a good step up than the stock ones no?

Is there confirmation that the PS4 will be SATA3 at the very least?

Sorry but you don't know what you're talking about. SSDs don't need SATA3 to be faster than a 5400 RPM mechanical laptop drive. SATA2 is plenty, so is SATA1 and even USB.

rk604 11-13-2013 05:00 PM

Maybe I didn't explain in great detail, but I am very clear on the topic. Based on my experience, my PS3 running an SSD didn't make a significant gain compared to traditional hard drives. Just chiming in on people who are going to invest $200+ on 160GB+ SSDs

In the end, it's your money, so go ahead and spend it

Did you take the time to test each drive, in a controlled environment? I did
