It's connected to the same motherboard, just I didn't have multiple gpus connected to it, it was slotted into the pcie16x but now its on a riser connected to one of the pcie 1x slots |
Alright, you guys got me ultra interested. Ive grown weed in my apartment, traded random stonks, bought shitty (baller) 4x100 rims, and now im mining off my laptop. Msi gs66 stealth RTX 2060 i7-10750h Current "profitability" is 0.06797mbtc/day - 3.31USD Day 1 Will report back in a month after electricity is added, coin is actually sold, and maybe my laptop ights on fire. |

The flow might not be as efficient ? then causing temp to go up and overheat ? How much hotter ? a picture might help. |
I switched the riser to a different one, and it's been running normally, the OC was resetting, and I couldn't get the same hashrate I was before even when the Afterburner settings didn't reset themselves (96-98 instead of 99-101) but things are normal now, so I'm guessing it was that riser/usb cable |
anyone got a plug? I am interested 3060 ti/3070/3080 |
Man, I'm so conflicted by this, and I'm sure I'll have some people disagree with me. This whole thing just seems so hokey to me. I've been trying to build a gaming PC for years now, but the whole inflation of video cards has been a major deterrent. What intrinsic world value does hoarding a shit ton of video cards to essentially waste electricity in order to mine a fake currency add to society? I was reading an article that discussed the impact of the entire process: https://www.technologyreview.com/201...s-kansas-city/ I'm not hating on crypto mining, yes I understand the financial freedom aspect, the idea of moving away from banks, etc. I'm just having a hard time understanding the overall value to all of this. I suppose I wished the mining process didn't have an adverse affect on the consumer PC market. |
Its not a fake currency, its mostly useless, but does have its uses. Stop reading butthurt old people articles, and go find some positive articles When i sold 5k of my bitcoin in 2017, and when i did, the asian guy asked me if i had any more to sell, i said no but how much does he need He replied, well 30k or 50k He told me since you can only bring in "10k" by customs, people are buying and selling it as "cash" imstead of declaring cash at the borders. It has its uses for drug lords, rich azns. As for the whole buying cards, thats like anything else on this planet.... Videocards arent only meant for videogames and photoshop guy... |
https://i.imgur.com/nbRZa98.png On January 6, I put in about $3000 (evenly divided up) into a bunch of altcoins I was familiar with from the last bull run. Finally doubled my portfolio overall earlier this weekend and currently up 120% at $6400. Was definitely not expecting crypto to rocket this much in such a short term. If there is a bull run coming up, it's going to be a great year for me financially. |

$$$ and greed will blind most of people. say, $55k invested in these video cards, will get nearly $180k a year in return. This is just with current price, If it explode somehow...it could be a lot more. It also can go to shit....like what happened in 2018. If you have the skill, place and funds to do so. Will you try to get this $180K ? |

But add insane amounts of greed to anything, and you get... this. |
Watched the movie Silk Road. The trailer was garbage but the movie was pretty good with a few funny parts. 7.5 out of 10. |

I just bought parts last month but now waiting indefinitely for a gpu. Things started to go to shit around late November, but I haven't really been keeping check until around October. But from what I'm understanding now, pc gamers are fucked cause miners can make back their gpu investment in 3 months, so essentially if every gpu is "free" for them, there's no stopping from them trying to buy as many as they can afford on the spot. |

So pretty, much as Manic said, yes. Like I said I'm not poopooing on people getting their greed on, but I tend to think of the overall bigger picture, thus I can't help my way of thinking here. |
I've been flip flopping on the idea of mining some for a few years, I have zero belief in any of it at all but making a few bucks is tempting. Does anyone actually make money at an average joe level just running a few cards these days or not really? I'm talking after all the costs are included (parts, power, AC in the summer, etc). If nothing else I might run a couple just to heat my garage for free in the winter though :lol Similarly I might toss a couple bucks into buying some just cause why not. Where's a reputable place to see where to buy/store/etc? Quote:

I wouldn't really recommend starting a mining rig this late in the game for most people. It's practically impossible to buy any RTX 30XX cards right now with like zero drops in Discord groups for a few weeks now. I do feel bad for those people that actually are buying a card for pleasure and not mining. NVIDIA has already said video card shortages will be pretty bad until April at the earliest, which means anyone looking for a card is pretty fucked. |
I'm thinking I wouldn't bother buying anything til lwte summer, then run a couple in my garage just in the winters. I was wanting to add a heater in there anyways so this way I'm heating it for free. |

Bleh, so new rig I put together, only 3 cards on it, I try to overclock the cards at all and the system reboots :/ I'm not even trying to push em far Edit: ah for some reason it's Excavator... Its not working with my FTW3 cards, the benchmark fails (it worked earlier tho, but now its been refusing to work with excavator wth) |

School me on the purpose of buying an ETF like BTCC instead of just buying bitcoin yourself directly? |
