Is something wrong my profitability has been showing $28+ a card all morning :lol

twitchyzero 02-22-2021 08:35 AM

can't beat them, join them!

my hardware is just sitting around anyways, tried mining for the 1st time..didn't have to turn on my fireplace :lol

which crypto/pool is good for modern nvidia cards? xmr for cpu still worthwhile when you're idling anyways? haven't found settings optimized for > 24 threads

You got that right.

Because the amount of transactions of this morning is massive.

Look at CC price today. REDDDDDDDDDDD

:failed:I'm out of risers! :QQ:

And I've got 6 3080s sitting here :QQ:

Razor Ramon HG 02-22-2021 03:19 PM

I see some ads for risers on CL and FB.

I got lots of risers...all from 2017

5 risers for 1 of your 3080!! Fair trade!!!! :lawl:

StylinRed 02-22-2021 08:34 PM

So first of all, I checked my mail and I actually got a shipment of risers in, but they're sata/molex powered ones, I'm kinda iffy about using them, but no choice

I bought some from China as a backup in case and wow what a coincidence!

And for these gpus I got, they're from an acquaintance who works for the government, on the east coast, and apparently they have access to order em

This loss in hashrate for every card I add onto a motherboard is making me pissssssed, it adds up to a lot per month (losing 1-8mh/s per card vs them being plugged directly onto the MB) that's $12-$50 a month PER CARD

even with the cost of electricity... It makes sense to have them plugged into separate pcs if available (wouldn't make sense to build a pc for it hehe)

Thats why every PC in my house is equipped with 3080 :fuckyea:
I even rip out my bed room and wife's PC, put it into a mid ATX case and start mining. :awwyeah:

I also had to open all windows....otherwise, my whole place feels like sauna!!

StylinRed 02-23-2021 10:23 AM

lol same, I'm shocked at how warm it gets, could've saved on heating if I did this sooner lol

If you need more pc's just buy shit boxes off facebook or craigs like this: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...code=undefined Just add a PSU.

twitchyzero 02-23-2021 11:59 AM

for cpu mining i can set the # of threads in the mining script
how can i limit GPU utilization without touching the overclocking software?

Tegra_Devil 02-23-2021 12:00 PM

out of curiousity...

I want to add some more risers to my Personal computer which currently has 1 3080, but a 650W PSU.

Can I just get a seperate PSU and plug it in to the outlet and use it strictly for powering the risers and extra gpus?...I assume that is fine, but i dont know if i would turn that PSU on first before my actual PC. Is there a proper order for turning on PSUs when they arent connected to each other?

My dedicated mining rigs have 2 PSUs connected together with a 24pin splitter, so they activate at the same time.

This is waht you need
I am using the first one to my 3080s rigs
But i am also thinking change to 2nd one, second one does not need 4 pin molex
These items will link 1,2,3,4,......infinity PSU together.
One of my rig has 4 PSU linked...:lawl:

or

Ya I use the second one on my rigs from thermaltake.

I dont want to pull my PC wiring apart to stack the 2 psu 24 pinslol

underscore 02-23-2021 03:34 PM

could you not just run a wire from the trigger on the one PSU to the other?

Manic! 02-23-2021 04:11 PM

My evga power supplies cam with a PSU tester. It's a plug that plugs into the 24 pin motherboard cable. So the the power supply is always on.

I totally forgot about that, I have that as well!

God I hate troubleshooting

Do you guys get a crap tonne of problems when you're setting up a rig?

My new one just keeps crashing after running for about half an hour (added a new card to it) I'm assuming it's the new gpu or the crappy riser, but ugggghhh, just run and leave me be :lol

ya i had tons of bugs to work out....but I honestly enjoyed it....i like the pain! haha

could be overclocks to.

StylinRed 02-23-2021 10:38 PM

Oh phew I was getting depressed almost thinking I just had horrible luck hehe

That's just it too they're evga FTW 3s and I'm not even overclocking them really

When I had them on a motherboard individually, I could +1450 their memory clocks, and it wouldn't bat an eye

But when they're on the same rig? I can only +500-950 depending on the card

got 100+ mh/s when they were on the test rig, but only 92-96mh on the main rig

thats why you have to tweak each of them 1 by 1, find their sweet spot on tdp%, and mem clock,
No short cuts.
